Can someone check theirs and see if this is normal? Cool engie, fuse box cover off, start engine, hand on relays, pretty warm, not hot.
I installed a winch then a Tazer mini JL. When I started it, it ran normal for a second then died. The relays were getting really warm and I disconnected the winch cables then the battery cables. It turns out the ground to battery connection wasn't very tight. I tightened it up, ran it and hooked the winch back up. Everything seams normal but I notice the relays are staying warm. It could be completely normal but I would like to verify.

The winch heavy duty power cables should be routed directly to the battery. The fuse box and relays should not be involved at all... For Safety, To turn off power to the positive cable , there is an WARN 62132 Power Interrupt Kit with Battery Lead, Hardware, Solenoid, Switch and Wiring... Instead of wiring a new switch you can just use your aux switches in the cab like I do to switch off the power at the solenoid. This is for safety, incase of an accident, you do not have a long power cable arcing on the frame possibly causing a fire. The aux switch hookup is right next to where I mounted the Solenoid, so, it makes it super easy to hook up... Note: I put some fuzzy velcro padding under the bracket to avoid scuffing the paint. Here are a couple of pics:

Warm is hard to define. Some will see what i consider warm as being hot - I may consider what some call hot as being warm.
Some warmth is normal - there is current flowing through the coil of the relay as well as the contacts.

Best thing to do while you are there - push down hard on all relays and fuses to make sure they are all fully seated. Some say they are able to push a few in farther. You are there, have it open, why not be sure.

Be sure that all cable connections are tight - and make sure you always connect ground or negative cables to the top of the IBS - the device on the negative battery post, and not directly to the battery post itself.

I drove it around the block. The fuel pump relays were pretty warm (warm defined by me for this thread is where you are able to keep your hand on it and not get burned, hot you cannot leave your hand on it without getting burned)
I am blaming it on the ground cable not being tight enough unless something else happens. This winch has been on a couple of my Gladiators with the same wiring. It's all in great condition.
