I'm thinking house battery because I would like to take it camping but have no need for an RTT. It took a LOT of convincing to get me wife on board. If you're old enough and remember Green Acres, it's kind of like that. I want the country and she wants the city. Anyway ... I know I will need the ability to run as many electrical devices as possible for "her" comfort. She's even joked about a wide screen TV - ugh.
I plan to use the passenger side front of the bed for the battery, and all the accoutrements necessary. I have my list and price grids on a spreadsheet that I continue to update as I do more reading.

Well "Oliver", I have my own "Lisa" and know exactly what you are talking about. My wife was also insistent on having a certain level of comfort as well. If I'm being honest...a rooftop tent goes a long way to that end. Sure, it's not as spacious as a nice ground tent but she likes being away from nighttime visitors (both four legged and two legged) and our RTT is waaaaaay more stable than any ground tent. We have literally woken up to quality ground tents being collapsed on us under unexpected weather conditions. The other thing my wife appreciates about the RTT is the fact that I have put a really nice mattress in it (she says it's better than the TempuPedic at home) and all my bedding is there all the time as well. And that's proper bedding, not sleeping bags. For my part, I can set it up and take it down in a minute or two whether it's sunny or raining.....food for thought.

But the real reason I asked is so that I can pass on a couple items that you should put on your list if not already there:

This is great for exterior penetrations on something like a canopy:

And these will work great for going through penetrations in the bed:

Too funny and I'm wondering whether I got my link for "cable glands" from one of your posts? Not a term you hear all the time but I have it bookmarked!. I always appreciate the quick fixes that come from the trials and tribulations of others.

My JT rarely goes anywhere because I work from home. In a week I will use it once as a truck, once as a Jeep on the beach, and once as my main transportation for happy hour. I do not see myself driving around with an RTT. I would like the shell over my bed but I need to crawl before my wife will let me walk. I feel my truck sitting in the driveway all week with an RTT on it as someone who's just "trying too hard".
I don't see myself out in the wild because we only have state/national parks in TX and they are not known for their ferocious animal attacks. We do have coyote's here at the beach but while they are very smart, they aren't very brave. Starting small and I'll see where it goes. My perfect world has a small teardrop camper but ...
