Ok, this is really dumb (especially for my first post), but I was wondering if anyone knows how to remove the little plastic door that covers the various media ports. I have a tiny USB drive that I plug in for music, and it sticks out just enough to make this little flap always seem like it should be closed, but it's not. I'd like to remove it without breaking anything, so I thought I'd ask for some help!

Have you tried plugging it in at the port inside the center console?

I know android auto works plugged in there so I imagine an usb drive would too.

I sure have! In fact, that's the one I use for my phone. ;)

Unfortunately, I don't have a rear seat USB port, so the dash one is the only one left... I'm surprised they made that little cover so hard to remove!

Angle grinder.

It looks like you could push the hinge pin out with a small wire or roll pin. Find something slightly smaller than the hole and just lightly tap it out.

Unfortunately, it won't just punch out like the 12V side--it's not a single pin. I found this thread on the JL forum, and apparently you can pull the whole face out and then go to town on the cover enough to break one side free (there's a pin on either side). I guess the cover is meant to protect things if it rains or the interior gets a bath, but for that 99.9% of the other time, the little cover just gets in the way.

If anyone has any other removal suggestions, I'd love to hear them. But it looks like this is the best method so far:

I took a the permanent route and took shears to the plastic by where the pin is. Cover is gone and it’s like it never happened :)

Do they not make a AUX port multiplier that you could use in the center council?
It's not the number of ports that's the concern (though in your scenario, I'm not sure how UConnect would handle more than one source for media file location, etc. if a port replicator is used on the port in the center console, for instance). It's the fact that the little door on the dash is always half-open, and it just bugs me. Like, if it can't be flat, fine... but then let me take it off!

I'm starting to like these cutting/shears ideas...

I have considered the same thing to be honest but I hate cutting my vehicles, hence why I am still figuring how I want to hang the antennae for my ham radio. My phone has USB C for high speed charging and the console only has regular USB so I have the same problem in both front and back that the cover is always halfway open because I use it for charging but as well as the android auto, mainly for google maps because I hate the built in navigation interface.

Show us some pictures of your handy work.

Ha, yeah, I was half-joking about cutting and sawing... but I may resort to that if I can't find another solution. It just looks kinda dumb.
