Has anyone actually had their textured hard top repainted by a body shop? If so, can I see some pics? Did you sand out the texture or leave it?

I am considering having mine color matched when my repairs are done from an insurance claim. I am curious how it would turn out if the textured surface was painted.

I have searched the site and don't see any good threads.

My body shop told me that it would be cheaper to buy a new top in the desired color rather than try to paint the black top.

A friend had his JK top sanded and color matched and it looks just like a factory one. It’s the red one below. Never seen one with the texture though.

Thanks, it looks pretty good from what I can tell. I may sand it myself and take it to them to paint. It can't be much harder than sanding and painting kitchen cabinets. I'd love to see more pics if anyone has them.
