I have
Will it go in 4H from neutral after a flat tow ?
I've had to do that sometimes. A lot also depends if I am on flat ground or not. Any incline or decline puts more pressure on the transfer case and makes it more difficult to shift.

Flat towing is different. When flat towing the transfer case can be very difficult to get it out of N and into 2H.
Stationary I agree, which is the drawback of flat towing. Put someone in the tow rig and a slow roll makes shifting easy. The problem is it's a 2 person job in that situation. Which is what I meant by my "it's no different" comment. It's easier to shift when moving. The moving part is the difficulty when it's attached to another vehicle. The other option is purposely disconnect it on an incline. That way gravity will let it roll back away from the tow rig while you shift the tcase.

The transfer case will not come out of neutral until it is good and ready with the engine off and by that time it will go all the way back to 2H.

I'm going to go against the owners manual recommendations and shift the transfer case out of neutral and into 2H with the engine running after flat towing, it seems to work better this way. I have not clashed the gears yet doing it this way on the gladiator. On my 2003 wrangler it would clash every time with the engine running.
Thanks everyone for your reply's.
