I have been buying vehicles for over 40 years. Old and new. New is always the better choice for most buyers. Especially now when everything is so expensive, and warranty issues are more prevalent than ever on most vehicles. Yes you can buy used, but what are you buying into? What is the lifecycle of the vehicle you are buying? How much of that lifecycle has already been used? Not just mileage, but also how it was treated. Was it rode hard? Was oil changes done correctly? Was other maintenance kept up? Did the vehicle have issues the dealer could not resolve, leaving the owner no other choice but trade it in, and kick the issues down the road for the next owner. If you buy used, how close to new are you paying? Did you think about an extended warranty that adds 2-4k maybe more to the price? Did you think, "Why did the owner give this vehicle up?"
With A new vehicle you get a better rate on interest, no miles, no previous owners, many time you have rebates and incentives making the price more attractive, and closer to used pricing.
I wanted a SportS with Max tow. The dealer had 2 26 Sport S with max tow, but then they had a left over 25 High Tide with way more options for 7k off MSRP putting it just over 4k below what I could get a 26 Sport S for.
So for less money I got a painted hard top, power leather seats, spay in bed liner, LED headlights. The only thing I really gave up was a LSD. Which is why I wanted the max tow since it is no longer a stand-alone option as it should be, but for the money I saved, I can order, and install lockers front, and rear.
Just food for thought.
