Asked about a photo on FB that had their new swing out tire carrier AND a side rack mounted bike carrier and they pointed me to this interesting product.

They're using a Rocky Mounts Driveshaft to secure the front forks btw.

Now I just got to decide if the duty+brokerage fees is worth a 30% cost add along with exchange to CDN.

Thinking I would elect to mount a 1UP bike rack on those two flat extensions...wondering if that would work? .

Technically it could work, but you would have to buy both trays and then mimic the 15 degree bar with a flat peice (circled in red on the add-on kit) to connect the racks together, then drill holes in the blue areas to connect it to our "outriggers"

Also, you'd need to mount everything rearward enough to clear the rear door. A modern MTB is around 6.5" long total.

This is my version for now for side mount. Works well but not currently using. Works with hard cover, currently have Yakima load bars and bike mounts attached to cover.

This is what I did for wheels on side bike mount Yakima Front Loader bike carriers.

Instructions for one side mount rack;

- ladder rack
- unistrut bolted to ladder rack leg angle braces along bedside rail.
- 2 10” sections of Yakima load bar (cut from extra load bars I have)
- cut 2. 5/8” steel plate 4.5”x 4” , rounded edges of each plate and two are attached to unistrut, with center 1/2” grade 8 bolts. These are set in unistrut to allow attachments of Yakima front loader bike mounts. This is platform for 10” load bars.
- on the same plate I drilled 4 , 1/2 inch holes 1/2 inch from horizontal (width of plate) edge wide enough to allow 2 grade 8 1/2” u-bolts to attach.
- loosely bolt u-clamps then slide 10” Yakima load bars through outside and inside I-bolt clamps. One toward front of truck bed one to the rear allowing room for Yakima Front Loader and length of Bike with front wheel attached so as not to interfere with opening rear door.
- tighten u-bolt clamps over the 2 Yakima bars.
- attach Yakima Front Loader bike rack mount.

This is very stable as it doesn’t rely on loo of bed or tail mounts inside of the bed. This is supported by ladder rack brackets and unistrut. The ladder rack is bolted to bed through existing top rail of bed with 1/4” steel plate under bed rail to spread load. These plates under and flush with rail match the 8” long ladder rack feet on top of rail. With the cross bars of ladder rack, this makes a very stable platform. This should allow for any bed cover you choose.

The bike pictured is a 29er large Specialized stump-jumper Expert. It is about an inch past the back of the bed.
