Spare tire doesn't want to winch completely up

So took spare off when changed tires out and hadn't had it on for several months. Just didnt get around to matching the spare to mybother tires until today. Went to put it back up and it clicked about 4 inches from seating all the way. So lowered it fully thinking had it bound up. Then got it to get almost there, so it is free floating but not tight. Let it down fully a couple times and tightens normally until it just barely gets to where it needs to be then clicks likes it tightened when it is not quite there.

So any thoughts?

The cable is probably binding on the spool. Have someone pull on the cable while undoing it all the way back out, then wind it back with tension on the cable.

That worked having someone pull it while I unwound it. Thanks.

Wipe that cable down with some antiseize compond and it will work some for the life of the truck
