Subwoofer box build complete

Well after a lot more work than I imagined, I finally completed my under the backseat subwoofer box build and hooked up speakers and amp. Fits 2 JL 8” W7’s. Have to add the back panel, rest of rear seats, and obviously needs some vacuuming. But here it is.

I first painted with bedliner paint because of the awkward shape and my lack of confidence in covering with any material. But it looked bad so I got some speaker box carpet and it actually came out good.

I used the threads in the holes in floor and matched it with longer bolts and bolted box to floor. Also used the threaded posts on the angled incline floor to bolt the back of the box in. Very happy with how it came out.

Also I used a rear seat recline kit to raise up the seat to get more cu ft for required air space. So seat is at a good recline especially bench. But I’ve got in a few times and it’s way more comfortable because you sit down into it.

Only rear passengers I have are going to be in car seats for a few years so no. I’ve had f150s for last 14 years and don’t think I’ve ever had anyone in my backseats. Still have a 19 f150 and 21 terrain though to. Def wouldn’t recommend for ppl that have passengers although they made bars that go across like a speaker grill for protection. I have them but haven’t put them on yet. If you were to go with something other than W7s you could put a normal grill on and be fine though.

I thought he was giving them a leg massage. Unless there will be some type of grill I see replacements down the road.

sealed. I will add having had it hooked up for almost a week, it was definitely worth it. Bass quality and volume is more than I expected. Even on highway with top off, these provide more bass than needed. With amp bass boost all the way down, the most that I have needed for tons of bass and sound with factory radio was at volume 20. i think for most, this bass is not desired and the setup isn’t practical but I’m very happy I did it.

Good job! One of the few people that I've actually seen that account for the air space when building their box. So many people buy pre made boxes and pay no attention to the fact that all subs require different displacement. Like cramming two 10" subs that require a lot of air space under there.
