Has anyone installed the Synergy Front Track Bar Brace on the their stock track bar? The steering on my JT is really loose and I’ve been reading reviews about how great the Synergy brace is. I reached out to my local 4 Wheel Parts store and they said I really should upgrade the steering shaft if I’m going to get the brace. I currently have a 2” leveling kit that the dealership put on.

I was quoted $350 for the brace and installation and $775 for the brace, track bar, and installation.

I don’t want to pay that much, I was trying to stay closer to the $350 mark.

If your steering is really loose, I think you will be disappointed. It is not the great panacea everyone wishes it were. You should really troubleshoot your steering components and determine exactly where the slop is. 95% of the time it will be in the steering box and no brace, track rod, steering rod, tie rod ends, or anything else outside of the steering box will fix it. Sorry.

I agree with @Factoid. That being said, I just installed the brace last week. I have also upgraded my steer stabilizer a few months back. I felt a difference when I installed the stabilizer, but can't say for sure if I am noticing a difference with the brace - but I didn't have a big problem. That brace is definitely beefy and will stop any flex. However as noted above, if it really is the steering box and you are wondering all over the road, the best solution is to push the dealer to get a replacement. I had a friend that took his JK to two different dealerships before they replaced the steering box.

I agree with having dealer address the issues. I didn’t have a problem but I have noticed some improvement. I consider it insurance/prevention for 37” tires. Took about 90 minutes to install in my driveway. Not that hard.

I just put on the brace...no track bar yet...and it helped my wandering a LOT. Two handed driving is now normal.

I am going to put on the Synergy track bar as it is recommended by Synergy or you need to add 2” bumpstop. I intend to off road, so will do the track bar.

Id think if you are not off-roading, you don’t need the Synergy track bar.

One last thing. my brace install was a real bitch. Trackbar will be easy. So you could have shop do the brace. Then do the track bar yourself if you decide to add it.

Kam,

By loose steering do you mean that you can saw the wheel back forth without the wheels changing direction, or your steering feels flighty at speed? If sawing without wheel movement then you are probably looking at the steering box and the dealer should address. If flighty, you need to check your toe and caster. At 2”, there shouldn’t be too much of a decrease in caster, but if out of spec you might need front control arms. My original Daystar 2” lift came with front lower arms. When I upgraded to the Mopar 2” lift, it had lower control arms and I installed the brace for insurance along with the Yeti track bar. I did not have bad steering before the lift, but added for insurance since I had thing torn apart anyways.
