Bad day on the free way

Long awaited update…

Truck was declared a total loss due to a bent frame. Finally got everything worked out with the insurance company - they did a great job and provided an awesome compensation amount.

Currently at a dealership buying my 4th Gladiator in 2 years. Went with a White Rubicon this time… While I love the Hydro Blue color, it’s a jinx for me now…

Glad it worked out! Having a claim of any type can be quite frustrating.

I had the conversation with my insurance company (who I filed the claim through… long story…) and discussed what they would do if the frame was damaged. The truck only had 4500 miles on it and the adjuster was concerned about it becoming a rolling claims issue. The total damage before the frame was found to be bent was $21k. The cost to replace the frame and labor to swap everything over pushed the cost over the total loss number.

Hate that you're having to deal with this - definitely glad you're OK. Hopefully you end up with an even nicer ride whether repaired or replaced.

Traffic in the Austin metroplex has gotten so bad many of us are contemplating leaving. My family has been here 23 years, and traffic is just crazy now. With all the folks moving in, tempers just flare so easily, and people continue to get worse and worse with their behaviors. Tons of folks on their phones, lots of folks trying to aggressively pass others, brake checking, etc...

I'm seriously afraid to be the first person at a traffic light now - "Red" now means "two more through" more often than not. Anyone visiting Austin for the first time, seriously look both ways when the light turns green, b/c there's a big chance someone is going to keep going through a newly turned red light.

I only asked one of them why and he said they offered him crazy money to sell his house so he took it while he could but was happy to be moving from Austin. I assume the other was similar or he just didn't want to be in little Cali any longer (LOL)

Sold my home in Austin at the absolute height right before the interest rates spiked and made crazy money! The wife and I started looking to move away 1/2 through the lockdowns (we are both able to work remote). The final deciding factors were due to the rampant petty crime from homeless drug addicts constantly breaking into cars and stealing from garages, pedos rolling through trying to pick up kids, and a shooting a few doors down from us (neighbor was shot several times sitting in her car) late last year. We had been there since 07 and it changed for the worse over the last few years.
