Hello everybody. So I have a newb question that I need help with. I recently purchased a taser mini and have the gladiator non max tow with 3.73. I wanted to ask some People with better knowledge what would happen if I Changed the gears in my taser to 4.1 without actually regearing?; I actually did this when programming my new tires in from the stock tires without realizing it and drove it for about 15 min and seemed like a good bit more power or better shift points. When I realized I did it I switched back of course. My question would be would this hurt it in the long run if I continued to trick the system like that? Would it stress everything out too much? Thanks for the input and please help me understand

I mean, it's not gonna magically give you the benefits of a regear. I can't say exactly what it would hurt but I wouldn't run my truck that way.

Off the top of my head, the “gearing” setting probably remaps the shift points and engine/fuel management systems to optimize a Glad with lower gears in addition to recalibrating the speedometer output. Short term the effects are probably negligible, longer term if left that way, the truck might not pass an emissions inspection and fuel consumption might suffer. So this time, no harm, no foul. This does highlight why you need to be careful when using any device that can modify the on board software.

Even if I was 100% sure there were no problems, I wouldn’t recommend leaving it set like that because it probably would cause you problems with the dealer the instant they put an OBD scanner on the truck.

I have heard of someone else doing this as well, besides inspections if you have them and dealer visits , would there actually be any mechanical harm, that is the question
