after being hit while parked, I needed to figure out a quick way to make my '22 Willys legal while waiting for insurance claim and autobody shop / parts.
I wonder if I should post a 'How-To' in case anyone wants to add that rugged, custom look on theirs?

Will insurance just replace the bed or do they plan to repair it? I'm curious what the replacement cost would be; if I ever end up with a trashed bed I would look at a flatbed conversion.

There's nothing more permanent than the temporary solution that works. My friend's motor mount failed on a trip, his ratchet strap bush-repair stayed in place for years (he even changed the ratchet strap several times).

Insurance quote from the body shop lists a new drivers rear panel and other repair.
approx $5,500 CAD (4,000USD)

problem is, it's not scheduled to get in the shop until Dec 16 ( another 10 days ahead) and in the meantime, I can't open my tailgate.
I asked the body shop if they could bend the rear panel 'out' a bit since it is pushed under the tailgate a bit preventing it from opening but they could not apparently.
i may try to 'ratchet' it out if i can determine it won't damage anything else. [ move it in direction of red arrows to create some separation at the green outlined area ]
