Went and did the Texas Overland Trail. It is located on central Texas and is quite long. Started around 9ish from Killeen and wrapped up around 6 pm. Some very nice scenery along the way. The route is a mix farm dirt roads with a good bit of low water crossings and some pavement either towards the beginning or end, depending on which end you start.

I did have a problem with Google maps actually getting me to the start point. It kept throwing me in the general direction, even though the route is saved on Google maps. Could just be my inexperience using the app with multiple locations/ points on it, who knows. Once I got to the start point I just used Gaia GPS to navigate the route and it was mostly a breeze.

I had some videos, unfortunately they're a little too big.

Oh that is interesting might have to go do that one weekend. Assuming a mostly stock sport s max tow on Rubi take off wheels and shocks wouldn't have any issues handling

I think you would be fine. I think the most worrisome part was the river crossing and it probably wasn't even a foot deep. I didn't stick my head out to see how deep it actually was. People live along the road, I passed a couple CUVs and a Subaru station wagon.

Not like cardboard box live. There are several farms and houses throughout the route. You do have to watch for livestock as well as wild animals. Saw several deer, a coyote, fox, tons of armadillos.

I live about 10 minutes from part of this trail and didn't even realize it was a thing. Can you share some of the route specifics or a link to the info? It looks like you left 71 in Llano, which reads did you take?

I honestly can't remember which roads I was on. Part of the problem which 100 percent on me was that I had the Gaia app on the dark setting and pretty much could only make out the blue line for the route. Because there is limited cell service out on a lot of it my on screen GPS was blurry since it was using the phone data. And finally I'm just terrible on remembering street names. Pretty good for remembering landmarks not so much on names.

The map screen shot was a presaved route on Gaia though. There are google maps as well but for whatever reason it wasn't working too great. Kept getting me in the general area and once it actually got me to a point it didn't know what to do after that, kept trying to reroute and turn me around to the start point.

Has a few POIā€™s on route. But donā€™t expect to many thrills and itā€™s fine.
