I also bought the Elite Max from Northridge to replace my abysmal halogen headlights.Just got the Elite version (non Max) for my sons JL Sahara which unlike my JT, didn't come with the LED lighting group stock.
He wanted to keep more of a closer to OEM look as possible considering the harness issues with direct OEM model. therefore went with the elite versus the elite max. (Besides not sure if he needed the extra features anyway). Excited to get them installed for him this weekend.
Just in case, here are some tips for the installation! The harnesses in the fenders can be a bit of a pain to access and then get properly disconnected to install the new ones. Take care in unlocking the red tabs.
Fitment - On mine and many others, I also noticed the passenger side headlight plug at the back of the housing basically smashes into the air intake box. I have an AFE Momentum GT intake, but it was same with the stock airbox. I drilled a 1” hole in the airbox behind the plug, which does not damage either filter element, stock or aftermarket. I don’t do deep water crossings. So this wasn’t a concern of mine in modifying the box as it didn’t affect the filter. Another option if you don’t want to drill the airbox is to use a heat gun on it and massage the spot where the plug would potentially meet it.
BEFORE re-installing the grill, you will want to aim the headlights properly. As mentioned above, the housings must be removed to do this. A little turning goes a long way. They are “pre-aimed” from the factory, but they don’t always get it spot on. Note the direction of turning and if the beam goes up or down with the turning so you know which way you’re adjusting. Adjust them a bit, reinstall the 3 bolts in each one, and note where they line up. You will likely need to do this a few times.
When aiming them, park on a level surface 25’ from a blank wall. Measure the center of the headlights. Then on the wall, measure 2” below that. That is where you want to aim the lights. Both Northridge and Diode Dynamics have videos of the correct aiming specs on their YouTube channels.
Post your results, any frustrations, and successes on this thread after you’re done!
