Define "small".
Basecamp is there smallest, followed by Bambi.
Both are 3500gvwr and you would be more than fine even accounting for 40's, I would think. But payload is always the problem with these trucks.
I suspect your gvw is on the high side as you sit with out the trailer, kids, gear, wife's purse, beer ect.
The flyingcloud gets to 6000gvwr as there next smallest and here I would see issues. Not only with performance but hitch weight and payload as well.
