Has anyone towed a trailer with the tailgate down? I've done it with a Tacoma I had a long time ago where I had my motorcycle in the bed with the tailgate down and a Uhaul trailer. The Uhaul trailers have a very long 'neck' so the tailgate shouldn't hit the trailer when turning. The only thing I don't know is how much space there is between the hitch ball and the tailgate in the down position. I don't have my Gladiator yet so I can't measure.
I do understand the risks of towing with the tailgate down and I have seen the lovely dents in tailgates that got hit with trailer hitches that weren't secured. But I'd rather be able to carry the bike and tow the trailer than have my wife tow the trailer with her GC while I carry the bike in the truck.
