I bought a used grand cherokee with the tpms fault and the left front showing __. Reading a bit about it I found that if I rotate tires the tpms will recalibrate/ update the position after 20 miles. Well that didn't work. I let some air out of the left front (right front before rotation) and the indication decreased for the right front on the display. How do I get this tpms to relearn?

Sensor 1 is a signal loss. I assume the sensor is toast. I just don't understand why the system is not auto learning the new positions. I can see the bad sensor not learning but I would think with the wheels swapped, one would display correctly.

Found on the web - can't verify it's accurate but sounds good..........

Turn the key in the ignition to ON, but don't start the engine. Press and hold the TPMS reset button until the light in the instrument cluster blinks three times. You can find the button beneath the steering column. Start the vehicle and drive it for at least 20 minutes.

You can also attempt to inflate all tires 3 PSI more than their recommended amount. Deflate them to their proper amount and the light might reset. Always make sure You check the spare tire air pressure, too. These often have sensors.
You can use an OBD-II scan tool to log info from all sensors.

I don't believe there is a reset button. I've looked for one. Obdlink can interrogate the wireless module and the tpm. Fault are all for left front. I can enter the sensor id with alfaobd after the position swap but the dashes remain in the front left position. I can clear the faults and they also return as front left. I am thinking a tpms and the tpm are bad and can't reprogram position location. I'm going to let the goobers at the tire shop look at it today.

On a side note, when I attempted to swap the front wheels, I found that the last guy used an impact on high. He destroyed all 10 lug nuts in the process. I'm glad I found out in the shop and not out on the highway.

A new sensor took care of the __ . The shop put the new sensor back to left front, so the sensor IDs of the other three wheel are still in the same positions, even though he did a manual relearn. Going to live with it. At least I have all 4 displaying tire pressure.
