I took a chance and went ahead
and ordered a set of these
TG-LX3J82378 | Drop Step Side Step Rail Nerf Bars
direct from Tyger Auto.

Manufactured in China, Taiwan or Hong Kong,
the American/Canadian owned company
California based headquarters
provides the design inspiration and marketing
as well as the best instructions I've seen.
Although I could make a few suggestions.

Very well packaged and finished.
The only fly in the ointment
was two D brackets and no F bracket
on the passenger side.

Having been burned before
I checked off the parts list before I began.
Customer service was easily contacted,
promptly replied
and is shipping a replacement,
which is refreshing.

Retailers like Quadratec and Extreme Terrain
can not do much if there is a problem
other than issue a credit toward the next purchase.
It can sometimes be a challenge to determine
and contact the actual manufacturer.
"For the sake of a nail..."
Well, you know the rest.

While I waited for the bracket for the passenger side
I proceeded with the removal of both Rubicon rock rails
and RokBlokz mud flaps
and did the installation on the driver side.

It turns out that I could have left the mud flaps on.
The Tyger running boards are a tad shorter.

More to follow...

Here the discarded rock rails show one problem.
The Gladiator tub is not slab sided.
It has a belly to it
and the rock rails are curved to fit it.

The Tyger rails are string straight.
As most aftermarket running boards probably are.

So a decision has to be made.
Leave an equal sized gap at each end
or favor one end or the other.

I chose to close up the front, the leading end,
to prevent snagging brush and collecting mud.
That's also the end I see getting in and out.

This is the gap at the rear,
one I can live with.

There is some adjustment available in the brackets
and when I do the passenger side
I will see if I can minimize the gap more.

It is very disappointing that the pinch seam
and its fasteners are exposed.
The Mopar Rock Rail neatly covered those.

Here my exhausted helper, Izzy,
holds down a sheet of cardboard.

A flattened cardboard box
is the most essential tool in the garage.
Comfortably ensconced under the vehicle
one can ponder stubborn fasteners
until stared into compliance.

To be continued...

The replacement bracket arrived
along with all five pounds of brackets
and hardware for both sides.

Immediately, I contacted Tyger
to inform them of the error
and offered to return the package,
minus the one bracket I needed,
if they would provide me
with a prepaid mailing label.

They promptly replied and told me
to keep everything.
I took advantage of the situation
and used the extra fasteners later
to fill in the holes for bracket number 3,
the one over the rear door step,
used by the Mopar Rock rails
but not used by Tyger.

In spite of careful adjusting and tightening
the step rail had a mind of its own
and ended up like the one on the driver side.
Snug in front and gapping at the rear.
It will do.

After struggling with the driver side
I learned a couple of tricks
to make things easier.

First, assemble the bracket and support bracket.
This I did standing comfortably
using my vise for a third hand
instead of upside down in the dark on my back.
That modest flatbed mounted vise
is one of the best accessories I ever purchased.

Next, I repurposed an old fluorescent light
left over from a kitchen remodel.
Another useful item is a magnetic parts tray
to keep all those parts, fasteners and tools
from rolling out of reach.
And of course the cardboard upon which to recline
and cogitate about the meaning of life.

Even though the steps hang down quite a bit
they are still not as low as
the stock Rubicon skid plate shields.
So overall ground clearance
and breakover angle is not lost.

For $189 and free shipping
I am very pleased with the steps
and with Tyger customer service.

Those steps sure do help out
this short, fat, old man.
I think I will keep the Gladiator after all.

I had Rough Country contour side steps on at first, very similar but covered the pinch seam and they were curved to match looked real nice. Your statement about being high enough is sort of off a bit , first BOH trail I was on was trail 11 at Rausch Creek Pa. I was told by Joe Burns he torn his steps up there so I picked up a set of used Mopar performance steps. Your break over of skids under does not change but driving over a large rock with your front tire can hit the steps hard, I saw several times I would have hit that day.
Price you paid is fantastic though and depending on your wheeling will be fine ,you paid. $189 , the RC steps were $399 back in 2021…..Jack
