Has anyone ordered an RSI Smartcap from Rebel Off-road in the past 12 months and either received the cap or been given a solid ETA? I ordered last July and still have not received it nor really gotten a solid ETA. I’m starting to wonder if it was actually ordered when I placed it with them or I have gotten skipped over by Rebel.

Ordered one thru Off Road Warehouse (they apparently are a 3rd party supplier, even though RSI lists them as an “authorized dealer”) in May of ’22. Was told then that it would be about 6 months. Their supplier told them in November ‘22 that it would be delivered by end of December. Then January ‘23 rolled around and was told that I was 8th in line of 17 on order and it would be early March. So, April rolled around and I was told that production had started at the new RSI Texas facility in January, and that they were finishing up the Tacoma builds, Jeep builds coming next so should see delivery by mid May. When nothing showed up by June 1st, I sent an email to RSI customer service asking WTF is going on, and would someone please update me. Have not gotten a response. Today is June 10th, 2023. It has been 13+ months since I placed my order, paid for in full. I am BEYOND frustrated with lack of response from RSI, run around from supplier (not really ORW, but their supplier), and now well into my second season without the equipment I need to finish my build. Am now waiting for answer as to when/if I will receive the product, or do I need to get a refund and start the whole process over with a competitor’s product (maybe AlumaCab or some similar product).
My advice to anyone considering the RSI cap, DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME! It may very well be a great unit, but you will NEVER see the product in anything close to a timely manner, or possibly at all.

So, after almost a year of waiting, I finally received my Smartcap EVOa. Received a phone call from the shipping company the other day letting me know they had a delivery of automotive parts, I pretty much assumed it was the cap. I was told about a month ago It would be sometime in August so to say I am pleasantly surprised it came early is an understatement. It arrived packaged very well and protected. The freight driver dropped it right in my garage. Started putting it together this morning, in between taking kids to activities and attempting to put it together, It’s taken a couple of hours now. The most difficult parts are the end pieces, trying to line them up by yourself takes a little bit of effort. I used a small clamp since I was doing this without help. The torque specs are so little that I couldn’t find a torque wrench that would work, or I possibly don’t know any better. 3 of us, 2 of which were kids, were able to get it on the back of the Gladiator. 4 adults would have been ideal but we made it work. Once I had it in place, I put the clamps in and tightened down. Makes a huge difference not only in looks but usable space. Will eventually look to put some LED lights in the cap.
