What's the used tire market like in your area? I only put on larger/off-road tires when going off-road, and so I don't like to buy new tires for an activity that is more likely to deteriorate tires. Or if I'm just buying a spare set. Keep in mind the price has to be outstanding for me to bother with a used tire and the tires have to be in great conditions.
For example: I got a spare set of OEM wheels and tires for $250. I got a set of wheels (5) with TPMS for $130. A set of Falken M/Ts in 255/75/17 (1/2" diameter bigger than OEM) for $400 with only 1/32" of tread wear (matching up to seller's description of having under 4000 miles on them).
Lately I've been searching for a set of 35/12.5/17 but all I'm coming across are 37s. Both Nittos and Patagonias, around 5-6k miles on them, are about $650 for a set of 5 around here. But I've been holding off because that's too big without needing a re-gear (yes there are many threads on the topic of size and gearing)
