do you have to have a steel bumper for this? Could you use the regular one that comes with the gladiator?

It doesn't.
Spanking Hasenpfeffer is wrong.

Low or Mid is your preference. If you are going to add a winch, maybe go Mid to avoid possible clearance issues.

I've got an LE too and have been debating on the bull bar. I don't want to block the trail camera so I'm not sure either whether the low one is below the sight line of the camera or the taller one is high enough for the camera to look underneath it.

No, there is nowhere to attach the bar to on the standard gladiator bumper. Plus it is a molded plastic piece bolted to a crash bar so it would not serve much of a purpose bolted to plastic.
