That’s just not how it works. Politics have nothing to do with any of the prices lately. It’s entirely a coincidence of a massive drop in demand during most of last year (which caused the price drop), causing a subsequent drop in production. When things started to open back up demand spiked. Production has been slowly ramping back up but the huge spike in demand combined with the lack of back stock and a huge reduction in drivers and other qualified logistics personnel is causing an enormous imbalance and delay.

This isn’t just for gasoline, but pretty much every product.

There’s a little more detail to it than that, but that’s the 30 second version.
True, except is is how it works, with larger domestic production we would be in a better position to buffer the exact problem you are talking about…would it be perfect…no(refinery constraints for one of many reasons , though also political) …but Joe Biden is pleading with OPEC to increase production while shutting down domestic supply in the name of environmentalism…while granting the Russians free will to continue their expansion and pleading with OPEC to ease our pain….We are being fucked because virtue signaling and appearance are more important than reality…I love alternative fuels/solutions, I embrace new tech to the fullest…but if you don’t assign any of our current energy cost issues/constraints to politics I think you are being extremely short sighted.

There's always going to be a market correction as part of the recovery from several years of massive economic policy failures.

From what I have been hearing there is low production stockpile (worldwide) and increased demand since things are starting to open up a bit, so simple supply and demand, if we want it we pay.....try paying the prices for gas that are up here in Canada, where I live we are paying on average $1.62 per litre or $6.13 per gallon
THIS IS MERICA!!! FUCK THE METRIC SYSTEM :CWL:

If you really think politics has nothing to do with it I have some waterfront properties you might be interested in…

As do I... maybe a bridge, too.

The "market" is fickle and hates uncertainty. Anything that might disrupt can have a negative affect. Just look at the last 18 months of gas prices (avg):

Jeep Gladiator What’s with these gas prices? ch

COVID supply/demand you can track, as it bottoms out in April. Then remains steady at the end of June. Then the price starts to trend upward after 11/3... and steeper after 1/21 - huge increases in February and March.
