I lived in Nashville for 32 years. In 2017, before the pandemic, we moved to a small town half way between Nashville and Chattanooga. I continued to commute 75 miles each way to Nashville for two years. I have to say that it was the unhappiest two years of my life. Now I work 5 miles from the house. I make less money but my time is mine. It was the best decision I ever made.

I am waiting on tires so I can get these bad boys mounted up.

Time is money.
Distance used to be money as well, as in real estate was cheaper further away from the city. In 2017, real estate prices were still very low in the town we moved to, and we only paid $300k for our house, which is worth close to $700k now. Everything changed after COVID and people working remotely.

and interest rates were fair at that time. I refi'd during COVID and went from 3.5% on a 30 yr to a 15 yr at 2.2% on my old house. When I built my new house I got locked in at 3.2% with no down payment

Same here. We refinanced at 2.5% for 15 years and bought the half acre lot next door in the cul-de-sac, which has also tripled in price. Now we have about 1.2 acres with about half of it wooded. I will probably die in this house.

It looks like the remote work will be tapering down a bit and ease up the rural housing market some but the door has been opened for that market and may not drop much.
Time will tell

I refi’d from 4.5 to 2.5 and got my monthly payment down below 1k. I’ll build equity until I retire in a few years and when the market swings in a manageable direction I’ll sell and use the equity for a cash payment. I’m expecting possibly 5 years or so.
We are doing good and managing here so we’ll wait until the time is right to move on from this state.

Not confirmed yet, but almost certainly broke my rear driver side axle shaft. Today on The Maze in sand hollow. Oops. But first time a trail break prevented me from wheeling the next day, probably. I still have hope. Found shafts, but haven’t confirmed that’s all that’s broken. Hopeful because rear locker still worked, the ring and pinion are ok. I was able to limp off the trail under my three wheel drive and lots of winching. But no trailer. :)
Welcome to St George.

Yeah my current job I'm a Senior Field Ops Engineer that is a remote'ish position. 60% from home and 40% onsite which is only 15 mins from the house. Even when I go onsite only only there 1-3 hours at a time.

Short visits are easy when you live close. I drive 40 miles in traffic so it’s not worth going in for a few hours. If things work out a certain way I might do some remote part time work for this company to shore up all of their 20 year old documentation that is severely lacking. Or I will work part time somewhere close.
I’ll find out in a few years.

Well my DV8 front door net replacements came in 10 minutes ago. Excellent fitment and stupid easy install; if you have the net shit already removed, literally 45 sec or less per door.

So, fits a water bottle or Redbull as seen. I took a picture with the door close and my left foot on the dead pedal as some requested. Plenty of space and I have beefy legs because I don't skip leg day. Last pic was from last night and a water bottle in the rear door

Fuckin mint & HIGHLY recommend. NOTE: these DO NOT fit the '24 or '25 models because of the power seat controls.

Pics to follow in a moment.

Almost bought those for my Wrangler. Since the Mojave is storage deficient I think I might pick these up for the Mojave. And I bet they fit mine because I have cloth seats.

They will fit with leather too, 2020-23

Its the 2024+ that have an issue with the power seat controls on the side of the seats

Oh I hear that. I used to work in Northern VA, that 52 mile commute could be 45 mins or 3 hours. After 4 years of that shit I said, never again. Now with my current position, I get paid travel whether going onsite during the week or if I have engagements in Northern VA. Traffic is not annoying when its billable time

I don't have power seats. I think thats only with the leather.
OK, oversight on my part.

Well if you don't have power seats, these should work for you
