10/4 on the poke theory…same here.

The fence I walk on is when you go up with lift, to remain stable, one also needs to increase width. This being said, the width expedites the failure of the balljoints and bearings. I picked up a set of the recon flares for when I work on mine. Life keeps on happening and pushing it back, but it will come.

The Mopar wheel is 17x8.5 @ +12 and I actually like the design. Brad from trail recon had them on I think it was his diesel JL before selling it. The hitch in my giddyup is I want either method’s bead ribs (0) or Icon rebound Pro’s (-6).

Below is a photo of the wheels on a JT.

I’ve looked up the rim on the manufacturers site. I think it comes in -12 and -35. Keep in mind this is a 9 inch wide rim not an 8.5 that you can get by running on 12.5 wide tire.
Wheel width doesn't matter in this instance. Offset doesn't change as wheel width changes like backspace does, because offset is measured from the center. A -12 rim offsets a 12.4, 12.5, or 13.5 tire the exact same amount whether that wherl is 7 inches wide or 10 inches wide. It's the primary reason I prefer offset to backspace as a measure.

And in case you don't believe all that (which you should because it's true) the pictures I posted above are of 315/70r17s on a 17x9 wheel at +6. So the 9 inches vs 8.5 comparison matters even less because I don't have 8.5 inch whes

I think someone got up too early…or they’re 12. Seeing how you posted this just after 6am…no 12 year old is up @ 6:13 unless they’re hunting or fishing.

See my previous posts with the table…the difference is 1/4 inch. Not that big of a deal.

offset and backspacing is up to you, OP... depends on your personal likes and then intended use. Whether you prefer poke or tuck.

Thanks to everybody who has contributed to this thread.

Recently traded in my JKU Rubicon for a Gladiator Rubicon Far Out and am trying to get all the mods wanted done at the same time.

Have finally decided on Mickey Thompson Baja Boss M/T 40” tires (will get Truss and Gussets welded + 3.5” Metal Cloak lift kit), but am struggling with which wheels to get.

The folks at Discount Tires are trying to help me figure out offsets vs backspacing, but they admitted they don’t really know the difference between offsets vs backspacing. And I don’t blame them as their bread and butter is normal everyday sedans.

If not for the Discount Tire free lifetime tire rotation that I definitely used every 6mths during my ~10 years of JKU ownership, I would just get the tires and wheels from the Mod shop.

If anybody has any advice whether the below wheel would fit, that would be great.

FYI. I called them and left a VM but they haven’t responded. I also emailed ProComp a few hours ago and hope they respond.

Thanks again for that super helpful chart
