Hello all.

I'm installing a light bar, using my Aux wiring bundle (under hood) and a dead pedal switch on the floor. After hooking it all up today, in the 90 degree sun, no luck.

What I am attempting is to wire the lights to work "from" the Aux switch, through a dead pedal on/off switch. I've got my red wire (power) wired into the Aux 3 wire. The wire I am using to run over to the dead pedal is a 2-wire line, so I've got the hot/red into the Aux connection, and the black grounded near the bundle. The red terminates at the dead pedal, into the center terminal. From the dead pedal, I am running the red (hot) to the light bar. The light bar line is also a pair, so I have the black grounded near the fire-wall where my hot/red power goes through to the pedal/switch.

In theory, once the Aux button is pushed to "on"...and the pedal switch is "clicked/on", I should have light...should being the challenging word here. Also, here is my rough schematic. What have I missed/done wrong?

Thanks!
Kevin

Not sure why you want to run two switches sounds strange. but on the other side things. In the aux wire bundle under the dash there may be six wires, 4 of which are the aux switches. 2 others, 1 is a always on and the other is ignition switched on use one of those to the dead pedal switch. or do not use a dead pedal switch just use the aux switch.

Yeah, he explained it all very well and Tyson already explained those wires posts ago ......

I was asking about the switch his dead pedal came with.
Some have a switch a lot smaller than that dimmer switch.
others come with a switch like a dimmer switch - however, he was looking to put a ground on that switch, and that would have been a mistake if it was a dimmer type!

You can buy the pedal with either a switch like a dimmer, or just a 2 connector switch.

Here's one example and why I was asking about his specific switch (in any case, no ground needed)

My dead pedal did not come with a switch. I linked to the switch I bought on amazon and modded my pedal to install the switch.

I actually use mine as a dead pedal! So I'd be hitting any switch each time I get in and out.
But if I were to add a switch, I'd get one like supplied with the pedal I linked to - no need for the massive amperage capacity and bulk of a full dimmer switch, IMO.
I won't run large amperage into the cab - especially at the floor with our winters and salt - I'd use a relay and small switch. That's just how I do things and have for years.

(for that matter, I have a whole drawer of switches, some military surplus, some collected over the years so I'll never have to buy a switch for the rest of my life LOL)

Yep, that is the exact switch I got...along with his dead pedal. No light...just a simple, mechanical switch.
