Wondering what experience others on this forum had with YOTTO Overland. I recently purchased their RGB pre-runner lights and they lasted about 5 months and now are not holding the selected color. Customer service is giving me a runaround and are unwilling to replace or refund.

A quick update.

I found what looks like the exact same RGB lights even using the same promo photos on Alibaba for $25. Yotto overland is selling them for $68. LOL! I feel like I was scammed but I guess live and learn.

Unfortunately, the majority of the "overlanding" companies that have popped up in the last decade are just drop shipping the same set of products from the same dozen factories in China. Nothing inherently wrong with that approach, or the products they are selling, but they definitely aren't really providing a service I would spend extra for.

Edit: If you're ever interested in finding out a bit more........chuck the site URL of whatever "overlanding" storefront you're visiting into a whois service and just take a quick gander at the registration details. For example, the site you linked has been around for just over a year, and is registered to address that simply leads to the domain registrars offices in Canada. Id be surprised if you actually ever received anything you ordered from them...overpriced or not.

I have learned what you said from this experience. I usually try to do business with someone in US even if it's across the country like Yotto is, but I have had much better experience with customer service from TEMU than I had with Yotto. Marking up a product 272% I would at least expect average service on a product that lasted 5 months.

I would be surprised if there is even anyone employed by Yotto who could assist you. Shell company, dropshipped products, website is probably one of dozens that someone (or some thing) manages. Can't offer support if you aren't actually a legitimate company.

I've ordered a few things from Yotto and been nothing but happy with their products but again I've only bought painted stuff of which I think they are really good at and painted here in the US. Like a lot of aftermarket part companies out there though, they make income here and there like you said getting products from China (examples both infinite offroad and Oracle to name a couple). But I can already tell that due to quality issues and just the appearance of their products. So unless specifically stating made in US I already know what to expect Alibaba and temu type products. All of which are hit and miss. I speak with the owner of Yotto often and he does get a lot of his stuff from overseas which again what a lot of sellers get these days. Even big companies.
My recommendation for you is contact him through Instagram and see from there what you can work out.

I learned from this experience and hopefully some others on this forum did as well. Search for products on Alibaba and Temu before purchasing from local retailers since you are getting the same product significantly marked up with no additional warranty or service. I wish this wasn't the case since I'd rather buy from someone in the US but companies like Yotto proved to me not to do that. I did speak with the owner via email, they have no phone number listed, they also use mailboxes etc. address as their business address, kinda shady if you ask me. My email communication with the owner did not go well. I wanted a refund or a replacement for plain Amber lights instead of the RGB lights. He said no way and wanted to replace only the part that He Thought was faulty. I did not want to replace one junky part with another junky part since it caused me to ride around with rainbow lights cycling through for who knows how many days until I noticed it in a reflection from a truck in front of me. Owner literally told me not to cry, used painted fingernails emoji and asked me if I belonged to a particular political party in his emails to me. LOL. Dumb and childish to treat a customer like that.

Hello again, this is Miles.

If the full context had been presented, this response would not be necessary.

When you first contacted us, we immediately offered a replacement modular for the RGB pre-runner. Instead, you requested to switch to a different product, which was not what you purchased six months ago. Despite our efforts to troubleshoot and resolve the issue, you were not interested in the proposed troubleshooting and the focus shifted toward demanding a different product. During this process, the communication became increasingly off the chart and disparaging remarks toward our business.

We are down to earth and always willing to help work toward a reasonable resolution when communication remains respectful. However, the escalation on both sides made it difficult to continue productively. If there is one thing we will apologize for, it is allowing the conversation to escalate further than it should have. That said, we are unable to accommodate requests that fall outside the original purchase and a reasonable resolution.

We appreciate your feedback and will continue to review and improve our customer service processes on our end.

Best regards,
Miles

I'm not sure how many here want to hear us bicker but I will respond to your post.

First is sounds like chat GPT wrote this which tells me it didn't come from heart. You certainly did not speak with me this professionally.

I did not want a different product. I wanted either a refund for something that lasted less than 6 months or same prerunner lights in amber color, not RGB.

You sold me lights with a 270% mark-up, sold on Alibaba for about $22.00 and you refused to refund or replace with a "like" product after they crapped in 5 months.

I contacted Alibaba and they have a 1-year warranty on the same lights, so why won't you refund me? I will attach their chat with me for reference.

I feel that you are taking advantage of people like me and not providing any additional service.

No matter how heated my communication would have gotten with Alibaba or Temu customer service they would have not sent me a painted fingernails emoji, tell me to stop crying or ask me if I belonged to a particular political party because I said their product sucks.

Members on this forum can make their own decisions if they want to do business with some like you or not, but it's a hard no for me.
