Today I installed an inexpensive aluminum version of the 10th anniversary front bumper on the Gladiator.

UPDATE: I found the little box of parts. I don't know why I placed it in the wrong spot while unpacking, but I did. The seller did get back to me the next morning, which is also great news!

Here are the highlights:

There were instructions, but the YouTube videos helped a bunch.
Took me 4 hours to install. The fog lights were the hardest part. (more on that below)
It looks great
It is a little heavier than the plastic bumper I replaced.
It comes with a winch mount. I did not install that; I'm waiting to see if I get a winch.
I got to invest in more tools; I needed 18mm sockets and such. Weird that tool kits don't include 18mm.

Here are the lowlights:

The bumper didn't include all the M8 bolts or washers needed to fill every hole. Not a problem I have some M8 button head replacements coming and I will give those a coat of black paint and install. (Easy Fix)
~~The skid plate did NOT include the mounting hardware or brackets. I reached out to the Amazon Seller for guidance. (This is the reason for the thread: to share those experiences.)~~

Lesson Learned.

Take your time and don't rush the job. If you don't have a day to install, wait until you do.
Make sure you have 18mm sockets, deep ones, and an extension if needed.
You will need more button-head screws to fill in the two holes in the bumper.
This can be done with one person
The fog lights were the most difficult part.
1. They mount on the outside of the brackets, not between the bracket and the bumper
2. Document which way is up on the lights. Wires go up.
3. Routing the wires is done with the supplied clips and the 5 M8 cap head screws on the top center of the bumper
4. You need to take the old plastic bumper apart to get out the wiring harness.

Now the disappointing part. The hardware and bracket (see the highlighted items below) were not included in the box. Both boxes showed up unharmed from FedEx. So, they must have forgotten to include the hardware and brackets at the factory. I reached out to the Amazon Seller and checked their website for guidance, and I'll update this thread as I get more information.

I am happy with the bumper; it looks great. Fingers crossed.

Awesome and looks great.. Before i got a great deal on steel bumper with front steel skid plate off a moab 392 wrangler from rubitrex I was very very close to buying this. I was going to get the one with the recovery points. I did get the keufa tripple hoopd grill guard for about a $100 buck on ebay and let me tell you it has alot of good quality for what it is. The paint needs to be touched up at times but it did come flawlessy packaged, It is very similar to steel that mopar tripple hoop grill guard. Maybe some wields you can see some minor imperfections but it is very sturdy and good quality... For the bumper personally I would prob upgrade a few of the parts to make it more sturdy like add the mopar bolts, better winch plate and front tow hooks.

I would not be scared to buy these especially with how over priced everything is. I saw a few years back they had the rear steel version replica but it is difficult to find now.

Mine worked out about the same. I used factory tow hooks and also installed the winch plate for some extra reinforcement. Amazon has the skid plate for less than 100 bucks. Mine bolted up nicely. I like the stubby look. I did take a few pieces of aluminum and make covers for the back of the fog light. Overall, these aren't bad--as strong as the plastic from the factory IMO.

@JmattNYC Thank you, the paint on this one seems to be very sturdy. I did slip the tool on the bottom, but I didn't see a scratch. I was pleasantly surprised; it feels like a powder-coated finish.

@Bully4 I used the hooks that came with it; they are red. My factory ones are black. But the ones that came with the bumper seem to be just as heavy as the factory ones, but as we know, that is not an indication of quality. I am thinking about what you did covering the lights; that may be a great idea just to keep the mud out. I am thinking of making something to 3d print to put back there.

I just bought a flat aluminum sheet and cut it to fit. I used two existing bolts and one plastic push rivet to hold them on. I sprayed them with bedliner spray-don't even notice them. I was concerned that a rock would get flung from the tires and break them.

OK, I feel stupid. I found the box of hardware and brackets. When I unboxed the skid plate, I placed the box on a shelf in the garage, not on the work table. Weird. But I am happy I found it!

The seller did reach out to me this morning asking for a photo. I found the box while taking that photo.

I also added the bar to the top of the bumper.

Very nice results. Any of those 10th anniversary kits aluminum or steel work for anything less than hardcore use like you mentioned the disassembly of the bumpers to get the wiring and fogs out and mounted in the new one is the most tedious part. I used the winch mount have not had any issues with strength but i am not running the king of the hammers with it mostly pulling others, some self recovery and a little bit of work use. I thought the Material and layering page was creative with the Ultimate strength for rock and trail impact, Prevents undercutting corrosion and Lighter and faster how could someone not buy it.

That’s a good looking bumper and worth the work. I don’t know why Amazon and eBay call it the “10th Anniversary” as that bumper is a copy of the JL/JT steel bumper. The 10th Anniversary bumper is a JK bumper distinguished by the almost flat top. It will fit a JL/JT but it is a different style. Here is an example of the JK bumper.

@Gregj interesting about the naming. I have always known it as the 10th anniversary bumper. Looking at Jeep's accessory page, you are correct.

@S JEEPN I don't know if the finish lives up to the hype on the Amazon listing, but it seems durable enough for me. I am like you I am not going to go on king of the hammers or trying to be like Matt. I would say this is right in between mall crawling and King of the Hammers.

There were two difficult parts.
1. Mental gymnastics: The fog lights. Those need to be mounted on the outside of the bracket. Make sure you mount them the right way round (top bottom)

2. Physical: The rivet bolt things for the skid plate. I ended up watching a few videos online and went and got an M10 1.5 pitch bolt, a bolt, and washers to do the job.

In hindsight, I would have used a different wrench than the black 17mm; it has the wrong closed end. Luckily, I did not need that bolt afterward. Basically, you hold the bolt with the black 17mm wrench and tighten the nut, which collapses the rivet. The 13mm was just an in-case wrench on the rivet.

Overall, I am happy with the results. I would do it again for a new Jeep if I were younger. Glad it's done.

Next, I'll replace the black hook on the back bumper with dual red ones. Next weekend.

I didn't install the winch plate because I don't intend to get a winch. The only hardware I need to purchase is 4 additional M8 screws with washers and nuts, and the M10 rivet thing.

I installed the other hook in the rear today. That was more work than I intended. It took 3 or 4 hours to complete, and it required some disassembly. I would not recommend it; get a new steel bumper instead.

You will need a 21mm socket, a trim removal tool, and the other regular tools you already have.

It’s even worse on the plastic OEM Sport bumper. Trust me. Made me way to go full Potato Hulk getting that bezel in there.

I agree, Get the full rear steel that has it open already. Also you can get the bezel and hook package for cheap($70 i paid) and it turn out i did not even need the bezel because the rear steel bumper i ordered had the opening. some don't i believe
