Took my gladiator into the dealership for service and seen this cool build sitting at Reineke Family dealership. Talked to the salesman Kurt about it and apparently his brothers shop built it as a promo vehicle (there were also 2 trucks built by him on the lot too). Looks like a good start for an expedition rig. Work was done by Reiselt’s Machine Works out of Radnor Ohio

See where it says BRUSH 1 on the hood?
It’s intended to be a brush/grass fire truck.
Although the Gladiator is a little lacking in the payload rating to haul much water.

I’m in rural Ohio where most fire departments are volunteer fire departments. It was built as a promo vehicle for the shop kinda just to show what they can do. Wasn’t ever used as a brush truck but to me looks like a good platform to build off of for expedition use

But chemicals, tools, etc. it could haul. I wonder what the mods added to the truck for weight?

On the other hand, for the use of the truck, do they care a lot about exact numbers? If it's an Overland, payload a bit under 1100, will they care if it ends up 1200?

Window sticker and the online post say it’s a North Edition…I’ve never heard of that package but I know Jeep has a ton of packages that are little more than different stickers.

it's a variation of overland. the silver jeep logos and those wheels are the visual cue.

Out here, a typical brush rig carries ~250gal. of water. The Gladiator platform with two firefighters, a tank, pump & hose, and some tools would be hard pressed to even haul 100gal.
Personally, I think a brush rig without water is a waste of money.
That said, as a promo for the shop, it’s pretty good.

I get what your saying about a brush truck without water not being very useful. Maybe the thinking was to get gear and men out in front of a brush fire to start making a ditch while a tanker is working on putting it out. The salesman said his brother traded it in for a Ram Rebel and built that as a “brush truck” too so maybe the feedback he was getting was similar to your thinking

Yes, men and equipment while another comes along with water - do they use chemicals at all in brush fires? Or equipment to make a fire stop (ok, what's the correct term? Clearing an area so there's no combustibles for a distance)

Strip off the fire stickers and forget that gimmick, which I am sure was put on for show only, and then the build makes more sense.
It could be a great farm work truck, a light duty work truck for construction, electrical or other businesses or as @NotmyJt mentioned a possible overland vehicle.

My god… if the JT was ever release with an old school extended cab, it’d be up there with the greatest overland platforms.

Forgot to mention and didn’t take any pics but it’s got a front receiver and both front and rear have wiring ran for a cradle mounted winch.

We've seen this build before, same general comments.

As a brush truck it's lacking in most ways. Our smallest road legal piece of wild land equipment was a 5/4 ton former ambulance converted to a U-body with a skid tank and pony pump. It fed a Big Boss 6x6 tandem with a yet smaller tank & smaller pump which could ultimately feed backpack pumps. As an ass and trash truck it's crippled because you are limited to the asses and quantity of trash. At least on my old F450, you had enough space to sit on the u-body and put your pack and council rake/McLeod tool/chainsaw at your feet on the skid tank.

About the only real use I could see for this truck as operational equipment would be as a foam tanker for car accidents, it's small enough to fit close and not "be in the way" , you can remove the passenger side freedom panel so the truck officer can stand and direct while still having cover and the deck is big enough and capacity high enough to haul enough water and foam concentrate to allow fast knock down. For everyone else, running aqueous foam in a normal truck is a horror, we all have the equipment and never want to use it because it requires flood flushing the main pump, flushing the main water tank and washing everything the foam touches, so all that hose, your gear... everything. Makes an early morning become a long day. So having a dedicated small apparatus that can do it all by itself with it's own dedicated hose and nozzle set would have made my life of car fires so much easier and faster. Nothing knocks a car fire down faster than foam.
