I was able to make my BedRug work by simply sliding the entire rack forward on the bed rails.

Does it still hold tight ? Against the tailgate?

Yes, I have it configured where the tailgate closes with some effort against the carpet. Rebel includes a foam strip that I didn't use. The BedRug basically takes its place. I moved the entire rack forward by about a 1/4 inch, maybe an 1/8 inch... I hate rattles and it does not rattle.

I still have to get a new strip of Velcro to hold the carpet to the bed. Depending on how thick your table is it might work, maybe not. I assume you are talking about one of those plastic tailgate liners when you say "table".

You can see where the rack use to be and how far I moved it forward from the dirt outline.

The other option that you have that might work is to simply turn the door around and install it backwards so the flange at the bottom goes forward away from the tailgate instead of towards it. Without the instructions that was how I originally installed it.

Yeah seeing your pics it will definitely have to go inside on mine. My table is almost 3/8 thick and yes the mountain hatch hdpe cover

Looks like on this reel he has the same tailGte table and it’s mounted out like yours.

You could also probably just trim the top of the table with a circular saw so that the hatch shuts flush to the top of it. I have no doubt it can be made to work. The build quality is pretty good in my opinion.

@Newlife If you look at theirs you can see how the table is about an inch from coming flush with the top of the tailgate. I bet they trimmed it also.

I had several questions about some of the other install details. I am directly everyone here...

1. This is where I mounted the bracket for the strut. Since there are no instructions and this is the only way I could get them to work without binding I think this is the correct location.

2. You can see where the holes on the hinge are not centered on the upper hinge bracket. If you install them the other way around the door sits to low and will not shut. I think this is the correct way.

3. The door or hatch sits flush against the frame and will bind if you don't have it adjusted correctly. There is a little play in the door or hatch mounting holes.

4. I used three washers for the hinge with one washer between the two hinge brackets. Without them the door squeaked and would bind up.

Any chance you can give me the measurements / specs of that rear hatch? I'd like to see if I can use it for another bed rack with some modifications.

It is hard to measure with one person while taking the photos, but you get the idea. It is really heavy duty too.

Thats a nice setup and I would do something similar if I had a use for it. My dog would pass out from the heat if I put him in the bed

I am in the Phoenix area and I don't put my dogs back there unless it is not the summer months or we are in the mountians.

I have an English Bulldog and they aren't supposed to be in heat over 80 degrees for more than a few minutes at a time. I really like the looks of the Rebel products though
