I have seen steel panels that had the paint peel off leaving behind the dull grey etched metal. I have a VW and a Ford in my junkyard like that now.

If the metal gets treated properly followed with a good primer coat. Rust or bubbling shouldn't be a problem. I believe the issue is a quality control problem.

We've seen quality control issues with transmission parts that are not rinsed off properly causing contamination. It's so easy to speed up the manufacturing process and pass the defects on hoping they go unnoticed.

Like dozens, perhaps hundreds of us, waiting for transmission replacement for the ZF German built transmissions in the 4xe, eh?
Porous case, leaking right through the case but only when the fluid is totally warmed up, the whole transmission is warmed up, on longer drives. Dealerships don't see it because their test drives are from the work bay to the parking lot.

My 2020 goes in next MONDAY.
Bubbling on edge of hood, hinges to hood .
Hinges on doors. Rust above tow hook in rear.

p[retty sure there is a TSB for this and fixed under warranty if complained about. My coworker just had his repaired/repainded.
