Made it down for the weekend.
Did 3 trails I’ve not done before all rated 5s.
Backwards Bill, Jacks Traxs and Fins n Things.
in a lot of ways, each trail was different but each one was a lot of fun and challenging in its own way.
Sometimes I go to Moab and do trails and just don’t like them, but each one of these trails I thoroughly enjoyed and would have no hesitation about doing again.
Backwards Bill is known by wipeout hill. Wipeout hill you can see a ton of videos on YouTube. Two doors have a lot of trouble with it. Four doors not nearly so much. Our gladiators make it look easy. It literally was a four low. I did put the locker on in front and just went straight up it without a hiccup in the world. The rest of the trail had a couple of other tough spots a few ledges, a lot of bumping and rock gardens some nice sandstone ledges overall just a lot of fun but if I could go back around and do wipeout hill three times in a row that would be even better.
Jacks Trax is south of town in the same area as cameo cliffs. Overall a very fun challenging trail technical spots multiple rock Gardens climbs decent a lot of fun. Only spot of the entire weekend I had any trouble was really big ledge with all the rain. The bottom of it has been washed out and all the rocks that had been piled up there prior. I was able to get up on it got high centered had to back off just an angle and then got up, one other four-door had an issue and a couple other rigs, had to take a couple of shots, but everybody got over it without winching or anything like that .
Fins n Things, Fins is a jeep Badge of Honor Trail, right almost in town lots of camping spots around it. It’s literally a giant roller coaster in a jeep. It is so much fun. Some major moments going downgrades of 30+ degrees pulling a U-turn and going back up the rock 30+ degrees hard right dropping nose down pushing 30° again and that’s before you even get to the fins. Thing that did make it challenging. Was the rain created puddles that then got sand tracking up the rocks faces I didn’t have any problems with my tire combination. Some of the combinations of tires harder materials had an issue. They’re just too hard and we’re slipping on the sand going up obstacle; but every one made it and had a lot of fun. Was a fairly short day on the trail at 10 after a drivers meeting and we were done by two and that includes I think we stopped 45 minutes for lunch.
Compared to Easter jeep safari much smaller lot less people in town which meant hotels were cheaper and less competition for RV camping spots all that kind of stuff strongly recommend coming. Moab itself is a town as always so friendly so awesome great fabulous food. I just enjoy it so much there.
Bunch of pictures to follow.
