If it were true I would start calling mine “Glady”. Nice story and thanks for sharing.it means G-Lady which is short for Government Lady. It comes from the original introduction of the Willys, during The War.
As commonly known, the 2-seater variant earned the name Jeep. The truck version, considered by many to be stronger and more robust (as in, it could give birth) and the nickname as the Government's Lady was adopted later shortened to G-lady and finally Glady.
