It is a personal preference . I like calling it what it is. "Gladiator". You are free to call it what ever you want. I am not very good at "just following what others say"
I see...Thanks for your advice! Since I'm not a native speaker, sometimes I can't feel the subtleties of English, but I hope I can try not to make mistakes that are too offensive.

Man... I thought Gladi was hard to be damaged, at least in minor collisions.
My friend's Gladi was hit by the rearview mirror of a van. The other party was fully responsible
Perfectly avoided the taillight :CWL:

How do the liability laws work in China? Do you have to carry liability insurance or is it “no fault” and you have to fix your own vehicle?

Maybe the legal names in my place and your place are different, so I am not sure if I understand your question correctly, so if my answer is not what you want to know, please let me know.
We basically need these insurances (I translated them according to the Chinese names, not sure if they are the most accurate terms)
1. Compulsory traffic insurance: can only compensate the other party, mandatory purchase, the compensation amount is very low (if it is a car repair, the maximum is about 280USD, if the other party is killed or injured, the maximum is 25k USD)
2. Commercial insurance: not mandatory, but most people will buy it, You are free to choose which ones to buy
(1). Third-party liability insurance: only compensate the other party, the insurance amount is large, for example, we bought a maximum of 277k USD for the other party for the Gladiator, which basically covers the cost of most traffic accidents. In this way, we don’t have to worry about crashing into a Maybach and going bankrupt LOL
(2). Vehicle damage insurance: can only compensate yourself, including spontaneous combustion, theft, accidental damage, basically any accident with your car will be compensated by it.
(3). Medical insurance external medicine insurance: only compensate the other party, the other party needs to use medicines and medical equipment (such as prostheses) that cannot be compensated by medical insurance after being injured
(4).Seat insurance: only compensate yourself, mainly for personal injury. You can choose to bind the vehicle (no matter who sits in your car, they can get compensation) or bind yourself (no matter whose car you sit in, you will get compensation)

In this accident, the driver of the Van will pay all the repair costs for my friend's Gladiator through his insurance. It shouldn't be very high, just some sheet metal repair and paint, I guess about 200-300USD
As for his own repair, it depends on whether he has vehicle damage insurance and whether he is willing to activate it (because activating insurance compensation will cause the premium to increase by 5-10% in the second year)

Really? I've heard that labor costs in the US are high, but I didn't expect it to be this expensive!
It seems that the situation is the opposite in China, where labor is the cheapest, so many people never repair/modify their cars themselves, but choose to go to a shop.

Body shops are super expensive. I’ll happily break anything on mine, but I’m really careful with the body.

I heard from a nearby Jeep dealer that if a Gladiator's rear bumper is damaged, they need to ship it from the US, so these parts are very expensive for us.

Thanks for explaining all that! With all the traffic you guys have I imagine your insurance costs are outrageous.

Makes sense I guess. Makes more sense to just go aftermarket.

There is just something about calling my Jeep Gladiator a "Glady" that just does not sound right.
it means G-Lady which is short for Government Lady. It comes from the original introduction of the Willys, during The War.

As commonly known, the 2-seater variant earned the name Jeep. The truck version, considered by many to be stronger and more robust (as in, it could give birth) and the nickname as the Government's Lady was adopted later shortened to G-lady and finally Glady.

I made this entire thing up.
