So I ordered a new Bestop Sunrider on black Friday that has the new bolt for the cable instead of the z-clip. For those who have installed it, how tight did you tighten that bolt considering it came with loctite? I don't want to over tighten it as I believe the cable is supposed to be able to move back and forth as the top is opened and closed, if I am understanding how the top is supposed to work, never owned one before. Also as far as storage while off the truck, is there a best way to do that, should it be stored open or closed? I would think in the opened position as it will be easier to store it taking up less room and it won't stretch the material. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

This is stretching my memory a bit, but I believe the bolt you mention has enough space when seated for the cable to move. So I tightened it quite a bit. You can check this out pretty easily when assembling to see if I am remembering correctly or not.

For storage, I am storing it standing up in the "closed" position. This is based on the recommendations of convertible top cars, where we were told not to store the car with the top down position as the wrinkles would take a set. Also, without being on the Jeep, there is essentially no tension on the fabric.

I started messing with assembly yesterday. I attached the cable on one side and snugged it up without loctite just to see how it would work. Mine felt very tight and that the cable would not swivel like I think it should so that was my concern. I sure don't want to overtighten it where it doesn't move. Will have to play with it some more.
Makes sense about storing the top in the closed position to prevent wrinkles and without it being on the truck it won't stretch the material. It just takes up more room that way. I did read where some people fold it up and put it bag in the bag it was shipped in. That did concern me to leave it that way for a long period.
Thanks and I appreciate your input.

I'm sure I will love it. Just wish it was warmer so I could enjoy it. Guess I just need some patience.
I am on my second Sunrider, 2016 JK and now 2021 JT. Both are the twill fabric. I have stored both in the closed position in the yellow plastic bag they came in , upside down under the spare bedroom bed. Slides easily in/ out and no discernible harm to Sunrider.

By closed do you mean folded vs closed position on the truck? I don't think it will fit in the yellow bag unless it's folded. My concern is like what JonMN said about it getting wrinkles in the material if it's folded up. Mine is also twill.

By closed, I mean closed as if on truck, all spread out flat on floor. It fits in my bag and I forgot to mention that I add a large trash bag over open end of yellow bag to
completely enclose the Sunrider.

Thanks for the clarification. I have not tried to fit it in the yellow bag that way, it just doesn't look big enough so I'll have to give it a try. Do you leave the door rails on as well? Would make taking off and putting back on easier from what I've read.

Yes, I leave it fully assembled. I don’t ever want to mess with those Z clips again.
