Just in case - as my winch sat a tad low in my other bumper, what are people using to space the winch UP a little bit? I don't mean spacing the bumper forward, but literally something between the winch mounting plate and the bottom of the winch?
I may not need anything at all, but I found my winch sat a tiny bit low in the other bumper with the Bulldog winch plate and it made the rope want to drag and set the clutch release lever down a bit far.

Couldn’t you just use a thick washer? I know they have high strength grades.
Maybe - but didn't want to assume........... that was my original thinking. I've got some grade 8 washers.

I would use two strips of flat bar with holes drilled to match the two rear mounting holes and the two front mounting holes. Give it a solid base that is tied together.

Bill I like Jteakus idea or take it farther and make a square plate, how high are you talking 3/8”? Or perhaps I send you my spare Mopar winch plate, perhaps it is build “higher”?…..Jack

I was tempted to get the mopar winch plate setup but wow, I can't do the 500+ now after spending all I've spent on things for this truck so far.

I really don't "know" yet - but know that the bulldog plate, although really nice, sat a bit low in the bumper on my Overland.

I even went to far as to ask my dealer for the instructions for the MOPAR winch plate but just couldn't spend the $. I already had to buy the shock reservoir relocation brackets and other odds and ends.

Bill I wasn’t talking about selling the Mopar plate ,I was talking about just sending it. Perhaps this weekend we get on
the phone and we figure out if the bulldog plate is lower or not, should be easy enough, two old guys sitting on a cold garage floor with poor eyesight ,poor hearing , should be a hoot we both probably would have to someone help us up…..Jack

I think I know a way to figure that out. The Bulldog mounts very differently, but - there are common points on each that can be used to measure.
Tomorrow will be crazy, maybe Sunday will be ok.

Even the Warn one, which is super beefy and the apex 12k bolts right in with the Mopar style steel bumper, is $399. That’s expensive, but $100 less

I have a set of spacers specifically for a winch. With the holes pre drilled to the standard winch mounting bolts. I didn’t use them for my installation. They are however 3/4 inch thick so not sure if they are too much lift for you. If you want them I will send them to you if you cover the shipping.

On my JK, I needed to space the winch up a little. I used a single piece of 6061-T6 aluminum.

Just make sure to adjust the length of the winch mounting hardware to get the required thread engagement.

Also, if using spacers with a 'textured' finish, I would sand them smooth. Textured finishes don't typically help with maintaining fastener torque.

I have the Bulldog winch plate and the same Badlands winch. I used the Rugged Ridge 3/4 inch spacers, worked perfectly.

I'd definitely go the plate route and not just washers... not so much the spacing at the bolt mounting holes, but the base of the winch needs to be mated to another solid surface. Think of a house on 4 stilts rather than for cinder blocks... you know?
