Without blocking the 3rd brake light?
This third brake light? 😜

Seriously though, very nice setup. I'd rather have a rolling cover, but this is a strong contender when the MOPAR one that mine came with wears out.

Good call out on the product description! Other trucks would have this problem, but not the Gladiator 😅

The overall design of the cover is very impressive, and it's a setup that a lot of people have been asking for- a hard folding tonneau cover that you can add a rack to. I was talking with Todd, (you see him in our installation videos) and he explained that the structural design was optimized so that it makes more sense for durability. By reinforcing the structure, making the panels more lightweight, and using clamps that physically support the rails, there's less rail deflection under load- resulting in better support to the cover.

Makes sense! After posting I was thinking about whether the folded hard cover would be flatter against the cab than a roll that effectively shortens the bed. I also noticed the struts that (and correct me if I'm wrong) appear to keep the top from flopping over on the load or resting against the back window/cab and leaving a rub mark.

The struts keep the cover in the upright position when fully opened so that it doesn't smack down on your truck bed while you're going down the highway. There are heavy-duty bumpers on the panels to prevent any dings or marks while the cover rests on the cab.

Honestly, that's kind of a bummer. The cab and bed are mounted independently on the chassis and there's always a difference in movement. A little dust on the rear of the cab and those bumpers are going to scratch the glass or rub into the paint really quickly. It's a shame those struts don't hold the top off the paint/window.

It’s a non issue. It doesn’t touch the paint and the only thing that touches the glass is the rubber bumpers. It’s tightly held into place too so it doesn’t move much. I had an F1 (same design) on my Canyon and I have the MX-4 on my Gladiator.

My Mopar soft cover left a line of scratches on my rear window when dust got in there on a camping trip, so I'm not enthusiastic about anything rubbing with abrasive dust.

I also have the Mopar tri-fold hard cover on my '20 JT Overland (keeps everything dry after adding a truck tailgate seal) and am thinking the same - will replace with this when it's time. It has always bugged me that I have to remove the Mopar hard tonneau to use a rack, but I like having that solid locking cover when carrying cargo.

The Mopar hard tonneau cover also shortens the bed slightly as the front 8" does not fold up - this one looks to have the same non-folding attachment point, the 3 folding sections effectively rest on that front section when folded. I remove the hard cover when i need the full bed space for hauling.

I have thick soft rubber bump stops on the underside of my Mopar hard tri-fold cover that cushion when against the glass - you could do the same with this.

I have the soft rolling cover, not the hard one.

Do the struts prevent excessive pressure against the rear window also? Can it be used with a soft top/vinyl window? With the rear window removed?

There’s no excessive pressure. You actually adjust it. It’s hard to explain, but you’d get it if you saw the design.
