It's a full-size truck with much greater towing and payload capability.......... among other things. A full size truck needs an engine that can handle the load and not break a sweat.
The Hurricane 6 outperforms the Hemi in the Ram 1500. Yet, the V8 was quickly brought back. It seems to be about more than just performance statistics.

I think the engine design / reliability curve has peaked around 15 years ago. The OEM’s need to find their way back to that standard.
They have to run on the bleeding edge to meet regs.......... if left up to the engineers by themselves, we'd still be there.

I certainly notice that the engine labors harder to keep the JT at speed, than in my previous Jeep (The extra weight has a notable impact.)
Mine is no worse than the LS was in my silverado.

the general un-reliability of the newer LS engines is pretty much narrowed down to the AFM,
And the DOD system - lifters.
Active Fuel Management and Displacement on Demand - two problematic systems. (so, get rid of them!)

Count on at least some of it being the word "hemi" - people know the term, even if it really has no meaning these days.

DOD - I knew I was missing something. These systems are clearly part of that ‘bleeding edge’.

I was actually considering a Ram Quad Cab H6, but my wife pointed out it’s an old farts truck. She refused to sit in one and try it. So we bought the Gladiator. (She has her ways of describing things……)😅

Doesn't work that way because the MAJORITY of Gladiator owners and Wrangler owners don't do forums - at all, anywhere.
It's a small fraction of a fraction and if you studied psychology, internet users also tend to be different sorts. It's one reason that posting a poll on a web page isn't even close to reality - and I'm referring to polls on X, Fakebook, Instacrap, or just plain web pages.
It's certain personality types that will be there at all, and then of those, only a small number even bother with polls.
Guess what - those who are satisfied with the 3.6 won't bother responding to - or even SEE this poll. it's again like going to a hospital and asking people to fill out a form "how ya'll feeling today?"
Anyone with a psychology degree or who have done much market research would blow this lame poll to shreds.
🤣 …… Are you talking 80’s psychology?? Cuz, I’m pretty sure you can throw all those textbooks away. This is the NEW - Social Media dependant (and persuaded) psychology. They’re probably re-writing all the textbooks to the new norm. Personally….I don’t care about the psychology.

It’s all about businesses understanding their consumers…..that’s it. The biggest, easiest, and cheapest way to do that, is thru the internet & social media. However they do it…or want to do it….. they get paid a good salary to figure that shit out.

You don’t grow (as a business) if your consumers aren’t coming back for more.

. What I personally am not interested in is paying a bunch more on an already very expensive vehicle for an engine option that's a piece of shit anyway.
Dude… Why are you even here?? If you hate it that much…go trade it in for something you enjoy. 🤔

The gladiator is not a small pickup. If equipped with the 5.7 it would weigh only a couple hundred pounds less than a Ram 1500.

Why do you think Ram brought the Hemi back?
They never took it away. They "leaked" that they were talking about taking it away, then announced they were "saving the hemi" all to generate more sales in a dying platform. The whole thing was planned from start to finish because people will buy things if you make them think it's in limited supply.

You should care about psychology.......... there is a type of consumer that doesn't do forums at all - in fact, it's a dying thing. There are whole generations not into forums.

But , go ahead and keep believing they take forums and internet as their key to market demands.
Yes, they DO watch, but it's just one single source of information.
Yes, they are here, yes, they pay attention, but they also understand, only certain types are on forums and of those there's a subset who speak out - most do not. So they are actually only seeing the most loud, the most vocal, not the grass roots.
Keep up - I have, including reading more current issues of Psychology Today yes, from this century!

I think it is reasonable to assume that in today’s world, many marketing decisions are made based on ‘clicks’.
Forums are interaction platforms which tend to attract (older) generations - the ones who grew up/older with them. There are many other platforms that younger generations grow up/old with. Their’s will also be outdated at some point. We are creatures of habit.
I agree that a majority of Jeep buyers will never visit a forum or other platforms to interact about the vehicle they own. They strictly use the Jeep as an appliance to get from point A to point B.
However, I believe those buyers are reached through online platform ads which are strategically placed, based on algorithms.
