Sports Bars - Post 'Em

What ya'll think of sport bars on our JT's? I like the old classic look of trucks with the roll bars in the bed, kinda like this:

But for some reason I am on the fence about these:

I do like this though, too bad it is made for a RC version of our JT's, but I'm sure I could find someone to fabricate one for me

I have the Rocky Ridge JT sport rack. I like how I can put a big ole roof top rack on the cross bars. Really increases my bed storage/carry options. Fits my dry camping gear perfectly leaving the bed untouched for other things. Also a good mounting solution for CB/GRMS antenna and lights. Both of which Ive bought, just haven’t installed yet. It takes me a bit sometimes. lol.

Oh no….. I still have full access to the entire bed When a roof rack is installed. 20 gallons of gas in 5 gallon Jerry cans, coolers, recovery equipment , etc. or you can add bicycle racks, paddle board racks, etc…… and still have access. To the bed underneath…..

Yeah, that's the side mount ones, not like the ops picture. I considered one like yours, but the function of the tonneau won out.

I love that top picture. I had a "sport bar" in my 87 Comanche short box, with KC lights on it. I could light up a 30 foot combine head when it needed work after dark.

I have the JCR and love it.. But I also know these "sports bars" "rollbars" "chase racks" aren't for evryone.
Here's mine. Dedicated spots for rotapax... No, I don't always have the pax on. First photo was when I was overlanding and exploring, 2nd photo is when I first got the pax and last photo was when I installed the chase rack and lights

Not permanent. The cross bars remove and install really quick with two bolts. My cross bars are removed when not in use. Also. I was able to install the rough country truck bed mole panel kit, front and both sides, underneath the sport rack mounts Without any issues. Its. Perfect combination for me. Very functional.

I like the look of my @blackhorseoffroad but will never buy another product of theirs ever. And will not recommend anybody their product.

Their customer support sucks. My bar rusted in some spots and well with in warranty but they wanted to charge me $300+ dollars for shipping me a new bar to take care of a warranty issue. Absolutely atrocious. The bar only cost me $600 when I bought it new with free shipping.

Yes, I had a similar experience with Hooke Offroad roof racks. I think they coated them with water colors used by kindergarten kids. After the first time I washed it, the black color came off while drying. The terrycloth rags would just turn black. They offered me a can of spray paint!
