I think it's just a sign of the current economy mixed with modern Just In Time inventory/manufacturing processes.

I noticed when ordering my wife's new Wrangler last month, that LED headlights were a $0 upgrade on the Sport S, much like we saw with the hoods here. I'm guessing there was a supply issue related to something in the halogen setup, so rather than delay orders, they offered the more expensive option. No cost to the consumer, and probably little additional cost to Jeep.
My wife's 26 JLU is out of audit. Found out that it was waiting for a part! Now it goes to the body vendor and from there, things would likely happen fast.
So for 2 months, one of those being the month-long shutdown, it sat waiting for a part they didn't have. Who knows, could have been something simple like the floor mats - she likes the factory mats with drains. Probably some "accessory" item but it was bought with only two accessories - floor mats and the door sill plates (she likes the factory stuff)

I remember one year at BMW, we had almost 500 X5’s out back waiting on bumpers.

who knows in this case - at least that's all it was. As my wife says - the deal is already set if she accepts it so the longer it takes, the more miles she can put on her current Jeep and the more money she'll save to put down on the new one.

I'm just afraid she won't accept it after finding out how high it's going to sit vs. her current one.

I remember when Ram had hundreds of trucks parked waiting on a backup camera. So yeah, you just never know what is backordered.

We're pretty much in the same situation with the trade-in, only my wife is almost afraid to drive it now for fear something might happen, especially since it's the middle of winter in snowy NH.
She's also about 750 miles from an oil change. Yea, I'm pretty sure they won't ding us on the trade-in for going a bit over, but I'm too OCD to let that happen.

It used to be if you wanted the oem Mopar accessories, they were usually cheaper to buy them yourself instead of special ordering them with the Jeep. I noticed that was no longer true on many things when I ordered the wife's last Wrangler. Fortunately she doesn't care about the door sills, and she likes her WeatherTech mats so we'll just move them over to the new Jeep and put the carpeted ones back in the trade-in.

The 2026 RAM 1500 are using a steel version of the 2 vent Sport hood instead of aluminum too.

So, the build sheet for the wife's new JLU Sport S just hit today, and it lists a "non vented steel hood" under the options. So which hood is THAT?

Barbara's JLU has a Mojave good on it :giggle:
That's shat I told her, anyway. That thing sure sits high and obstructs the view of the front end for that short lady.

So she finally got it and kept it?

Sort of. Her 23 is at dealership so they can move the power steps over to the new one. She's convinced it will be fine. Side-by-side there is exactly 2 inches difference..... measuring ground to door sill/rocker and with doors open next to each other measuring at the doors. She won't be driving for months, though, with her shoulder replacement

Kind of hard to tell, but looks kind of bleh or boring compared to the normal hood?

(Forgive the grille and the ducks. Her Jeep, her choices. I just do what she asks.)
I really prefer the Rubicon hood on a Rubicon but what do we do unless we replace them ourselves?

If it was MY Jeep and it was a Rubicon, I would really be pissed if it got a hood like the one @Xplor posted above. So far the misses seems nonplussed, but I havent shown her the picture above yet.
