Anyone know how jeep typically releases a new color? Are they done at a press confrence during model year announcements? Do they randomly pop up on the website? Given they currently have 10 colors that arnt even In production now, would that be an indicator we wouldnt see a new color for another year?

Typically the colors are announced with the new model year. Being as this is already a 2020 model that wont happen till Sep/Oct of next year.

Just to clarify a little further, the chart above is for the colors that are scheduled for the current 2020 model. No new colors will be offered for the 2020. Nobody knows what will be offered for the 2021 model yet.

Auto manufacturers have been known to have 1/2 year models in the past.

Jeep typically keeps the basics year-round (red, white, black, 50 shades of gray) and they rotate the cool colors. The cool colors are usually late-availability and will stick around for a year or so before being replaced by different cool colors.

Auto manufacturers have been known to have 1/2 year models in the past.
Only when it's a major update and there are already previous gen cars on the lots.

That was the case for the JK but I am not sure it will be the same for the JL. Before they re-tooled the factory they could only spray 9 colors. Now they can obviously do a lot more.

We now have docs on 2020 colors for the JL and they have made few changes in the 3 model years. Added 2 colors but have not removed any.

Ah that's right. I remember people were worried that Mojito, Punk'n and Ocean Blue would go away but they stuck around, even after Bikini was added.

So, if a color release date of August 26 is showing...does that mean you can't order you unit until then, or is there a open period for ordering before then?
