In my 20+ years of detailing my cars, this new "make it safer by adding features restricting modern day morons from ending up in a situation where they injur themselves" is really starting to piss me off. Yes I'm directly pointing my finger at you if you're one of those people dependent on the techy crap to keep yourself out of trouble, and no I'm most certainly not sorry if I've offended your dumb*ss. Lol.

Anywho....haha....while detailing my cars in a confined space (like my standard 2 car garage), i usually just turn the key to run and (without starting the vehicle) and then shift trans to neutral, roll the vehicle a foot or two so i can continue detailing tires and rims or front or rear most part of vehicle in a more comfortable position, covering it 360 degrees. Today i learned, acc, run positions still dont allow me to shift to neutral. I read the owners manual, aside from tcase which i haven't messed with yet, is there a trick I'm missing to allow us to shift to neutral without having the vehicle start first??

its an electronically controlled transmission, there is no direct linkage (wire) between the shifter and transmission. This is unfortunately the way vehicles are going, There is a way of putting it in neutral which involves removing plastic trim and pulling a lever but I would only recommend doing that if the truck needs to be towed

Yeah, that electronic auto park feature/nanny is a pain. I think the only way to physically put and leave gear selector in neutral and turn it off, is to also have the transfer case in neutral . I had to do this when I installed and was pre-tensioning the winch rope cable by myself.

Key is to unlock the door when the electronics of the fobic fail...Oh and stab you inadvertently in the leg when in your pocket..

Thanks to AJT Designs the fobic is smaller and the key remains inside.

good lord. O_o
And yes I still bought one... I usually steer away from Chrysler products (since 2008) in the store but I have always been a fan of the Wranglers and the JT truck was just too damn nice to resist...

So here I am stuck in the middle with all of you....

Ive been out of the Jeep game for a while, but I plan on getting a Glad in the next 6-8 months (want to pay off a bunch of bills first) Stuff like this just wants me to get a manual trans.

I had a Jeep JL and that worked. I have a JT on order, but I verified from the JT owners manual it works the same, see "MANUAL PARK RELEASE" in the owner manual.
