Scratching my head over complaints

I am not a brand purist or a Jeep fan boy. We have: 2016 Miata, 2017 F450, 2011 Ram 3500, 2016 JKUR, 2020 Gladiator, 2018 BMW X5 diesel, and a 1956 F250 stake bed.

We are currently enjoying our new Gladiator very much. Not as capable as the 450. Not as smooth as the BMW. Not as nimble as the Miata. However, it is more capable, smoother, and at least as nimble as our beloved JKUR.

I am scratching my head over the myriad complaints on this forum. Are these folks who never owned a Jeep Wrangler before and have unrealistic expectations or who unfortunately encountered a lemon? They seem disproportionately represented on this forum.

As for me and my family, we are very impressed with the JT platform, especially our Rubicon.

We previously purchased new a 1997 TJ, a 2008 2 door Ruby and our 2016 JKUR. All were dependable and trouble free requiring only regular maintenance. The JT Rubicon will hopefully be as dependable. I can say it is fantastic even as compared to our previous Jeeps.

BTW, all our previous Jeeps have all been very reliable with only minor issues over many, many miles.

ive been in the same boat since day one! I loved my JKU but this JT is awesome. It had its quarks...like i wish the foot well was larger for the driver...but thats a jeep thing so it sorta makes sense.

i say it a lot to folks i work with. In life it’s easier to complain than it is to be positive, and everyone sure loves the easy way.

People who have no complaints, buy a vehicle, it's doing fine, nothing to talk about, don't typically join forums.
How many members are there here compared to the whole of JT sales?
As far a Jeeps - how many are bought and never ever changed, no mods at all (not talking about Compass, Grand Cherokee, Cherokee, etc. - the solid axle family of Jeeps)
Nothing is ever good enough. (it actually is, but that's a different story)

Mine has only minor issues. At least at this point and as far as I know. If it proves as reliable as all of the other Jeeps we've ever owned, I'll be quite happy as the others have been great. For the most part, I have decent luck with vehicles, though. I've only had real issues with two over all of these years. They were not Jeep vehicles (although one was a Dodge - a stratus - head/engine issues, we gave up on it)

Ever drive a Silverado 1500? This Jeep has a lot more space for my 11s. I can actually get my right foot out of the way when using cruise and I need a dead pedal for my left foot (it's an automatic)
My Silverado - my right foot was always in the way when using cruise, no place to put it, the tunnel was in the way, no space between pedals or under or behind them.
I like the foot space in the JT compared to my full-size Chevy I had.
Amazing as the JT is a much more narrow vehicle over-all.

ive only ever had jeeps and have had the same style foot well in them all. Doesnt really bother me at all, just would be nice.

16K members - active? Or a few hundred active? Some join to sell something or buy something, never post otherwise, some join to lurk, some join and decide it was a mistake and never return, lots of reasons.
The forum I operate has 17,000 members. Only a couple hundred post regularly.

Anyway, of the 16,000 (rounded down) members, we see complaints from - not even 1%, right? So of the JT's sold, not even half of a percent are complaining - at least here.
And of those complaints, not all have the same issues - (go ahead with the numbers - as likely you can do better in your head than I can) - take the total of complaints and some are headlights (LED), some are steering, some are HVAC, some are seats, etc. Few are complaining of all of the above.
So it makes sense - say you see 200 people here complain - the complaints are about several things. That means that most JTs don't really have a multitude of issues like some make it sound.
It's getting late - maybe you can say it better.

Read and posted there as well, but as @ShadowsPapa said, when you really look at the numbers it’s not as bad as it really seems at first glance. You always find some that have to find something to complain about but some are just unfamiliar with what is normal or inherent to vehicle built the way these are. I’ve seen numerous people complain about steering or “death wobble” issues who have never owned a solid axle vehicle and don’t realize it’s a trade off you have to deal with to have the positives that a solid front axle provides. As I said in the other thread, you have to roll with it, educate the unfamiliar where you can, make suggestions to the ones asking and ignore the never happy ones. You never know, explaining something to one person who posts a negative rant may help another who reads it but never posts a thing.

This will be my only comment on this topic- since the vehicle is new isn’t everyone’s JT still under warranty? If you have an issue go get it fixed for free. Understandable some may have a long drive to a local dealer, but I’d always take that into account when buying a new vehicle.

I've had two Jeeps and never had a single problem with either one, with that said my only complaint on the gladiator is the floaty steering, other than that I love it.

My only complaint is that it doesnt have a hemi.

had a 14gc before this, that hemi... woooo. sooo nice. but even that engine has problems, so meh. after warrenty is up ill drop a hemi in this and be a happy camper
