So I goes to the Kroger to get me some vittles. I get back to the truck and see this...

I didn’t know this was a thing. I had to look it up. Pretty cool and it made me chuckle.

Anyone else get ducked? Anyone giving duckings?

Never heard of it, don't use social media, but it looks like a Twatter "hash-tag"... Or as it was always known before 2007....The pound sign.

You just did.
Well, I guess technically, but I'm referring to things like FakeBook, InstaSham, SnapFat, etc... You know, all the NSA creations. ;)

Before 2007? Uh, what?

Not to be that person, but the # symbol has always been called a "hash". In English, we have several grammatical symbols, such as the dash, slash, and of course, the hash and though the hash has been used sporadically to represent pounds, that hasn't been common in nearly a century, and "pound sign" is, in today's English, a term popularized by Millennials during the era of automated phone services. It's a Hash. Always has been.

LOL he big mad.

Yes, understanding first grade grammar makes me a Boomer. Looks like you just use words to try to sound smart. "bOoMeR", "pOuNd kEy", etc.

Earlier, someone knowing what a Hash was made them a preteen. Now it makes them a Boomer. If you're going to lie, at least stay consistent, boo.

I'm thinking you're just literally braindead and didn't know it was actually called a Hash. You've got to be the first person that dumb, but what scares me is you may not be the last.

I've known it as the "pound sign" ever since push button phones became common ('80s?). Although I was familiar with it's other name "hash," I can't recall anyone using that word ever (before Twitter, that is.)

edit - maybe it's used differently in different parts of the country/world?

:giggle:

It has literally always been called a Hash. Also "pound sign" didn't become mainstream until the mid 2000s (not that it matters, because you realize Millennials were mostly alive in the 1980s anyway, right? Do the math on that one, use your fingers if it's tough) and even then, it was a purely U.S. term while the rest of the world just still called it a Hash, like always. What planet are y'all coming from that you didn't know it was called a hash? Are y'all gonna freak out when you learn about the dash or the comma too?

That and the number sign. I've never used it as a hash sign or Hashtag, whatever the kiddies are calling it these days.

It's actually is roman for lb, that's when it was first used as a abbreviation for Libra pondo which means pound weight. So yeah it was a pound sign first. That usage dates back to at least 1850

I don't think that's true. I always knew it as the pound sign and I was born in 1979.
