Curious for others to test out their rear axle bearings for me. The wife has been complaining about a clunk in the rear so I checked it out on Saturday. Every semi float rear axle will have some play. In my opinion, when you start to hear it clunk there is an issue. So if you're bored and want to jack your axle up I'd be interested how close yours is to mine. The passenger side has less play versus the drivers side.

2020 Launch Edition.

Video uploaded on my BF page for sound.

I wonder if that is what I am hearing. I have a 21 Mojave and I think there is way too much noise from the drivetrain. One of the things I feel happens regularly. If I have to slightly brake or just let off the gas because of someone merging and then lightly give it gas again I will feel a clunk and hear a noise.

There is also too much feedback when downshifting between 1st and 5th gears. Sometimes when slowing down I can feel the transmission shift from 4 to 3 to 2 to 1.

Not sure if it 2 different issues or 1.

I went to the dealership I purchased from and another and they are saying it is the vehicle characteristic. But I am not accepting that. Jeep would go out of business if every one felt like mine.

Lifted the rear end and my rear wheels rotate about 2 inches of movement back and forth.

What about in and out parallel to the axle tube?

After I was checking for movement I wanted to see how to get the rear axle locked while in 4 Hi. After doing that in the driveway and then running some errands (in 2 Hi) it didn’t seem like there was as much noise. But then tonight visited the in laws and drove through the empty lot with rear locked and it wouldn’t unlock for 20 minutes. Not sure what’s going on.
