I use Arlo Cameras with a Verizon cell service for $15 per month after purchase of the camera. Its set to send me a notification if there's movement at my gates. If you have good WiFi you could get on with out paying the cell service
I use Arlo as well, but I don’t have to pay $15 a month, it gives me 30 days of recording, and the same notification, not sure of the benefit of paying, several of my friends and family have Arlo as well, none pay a monthly fee. It is a great product and solid recommendation for anyone looking for cameras with decent WiFi.

Id be careful about protecting your property in your area. Check your laws because in some places the laws protect the criminal.

Park in the garage if you have one but I like the idea of a good security camera.

“Gone wrong for him in many ways” If i stopped someone from stealing my truck, im pretty sure a LEO like yourself would come arrest me for assault. its utterly exhausting to hear about how you guys think youre a different class of citizen. You get the right to stop people from stealing your stuff. You get the right to defend yourself. You get the right to carry a gun legally.

Dude does sound shady, I’ll agree. If he is scoping it for theft, do all the things you told John Q Public to do when you were on the job and make it less desirable than the one down the road. put in lights, hope for the best, and live with stolen shit like the rest of us.

From what I understand it is pretty difficult to steal a modern vehicle without a key. So maybe don't leave a key on the jeep and don't worry about it? Every time I heard of a newer truck being stolen its because it was left running with the key in it, or they had an extra key "hidden" somewhere.

This. The modern camera systems are amazing, and the low light/night vision capabilities are legit. A couple cameras on the house with “trip wire” zones and you’re all set to not only record the action but get text message alerts. You can even turn it on remotely to see what’s going on at home if you’re away.

Crooks hate these systems.
We recently added this to our home - Costco had a system on sale: Lorex brand, with a 2TB DVR and 6 4K cameras for $300, down from $400. I've got the entire perimeter of the house covered with 5 cameras. The phone app allows me to monitor each camera live, and it records a 30 second video whenever it detects either a person or a vehicle entering the camera's view.

sounds good. Got a link? I like the pairing off of the video segments. Last thing i want is to give johnny law the whole hard drive. Theyll spend as much time looking for a way to charge you for something as they will the actual perpetrator.

They're not on sale right now so they want $400 for the system: - here's the link

God bless Texas.

I'm not saying I look for a chance to kill someone over stuff, but my laws aren't aimed at protecting criminals. My wife and I are civilians, but we can carry in 33 states.

Cameras are your best friend if a garage isn't available.

When I had an LJ, I found an FSM for my Jeep. Is there an FSM to be found anywhere on line? I bet we could figure out a kill switch. Maybe a hidden momentarily closed switch in series with your start button.

Someone makes a disconnect for a starter cable that resembles your house AC disconnect. Remove the plug under the hood if your Jeep is going to sit for a while.

yeah i wish i could move to Texas. Although 33 states should be 50 + territories.

i refuse to train LEO’s of any flavor. I see no value in training police how to use weapon systems they are arresting citizens for having; and giving them better tactics to do it. The police are not there to protect you and they arent your friend. Theyre there to put steel to the desires of politicians, and we would all be better off if police budgets were cut by 50% nation wide. /rant. Probably needs to be a different thread, though.

I'm in a rural area with no WiFi. It allows me to log in an look real time and utilize their cloud recording rather than it just being on the SD card. So basically cellular WiFi. If you have real WiFi, even better

Liquor Attorney. So not all bad...
To OP: you already know this but don't leave any firearms in your vehicle. If your JT did get stolen or broken into you just don't want to even feel partly responsible for any crimes committed with the firearm stolen from you. Hope your fears are unfounded. Love you cap too! Thx

If you use Arlo, no need for any of that, You click recording and you send can email that directly to the police if you like, I did it before when I had a problem with a contractor...honestly it’s plug and play, no need to over think these things these days.

That makes sense, I don’t use an SD at all either, it’s all cloud recorded.
