I had not been wheeling since Labor Day and finally got a chance to go on a fund-raising ride celebrating some new roads being added to the Daniel Boone Backcountry Byway. Here are some highlights. I kept up with all the modded 4Runners, Tacomas, and lifted Wranglers.

Here are some highlights from 12h of back-to-back roads/trails

We go to the new section by heading north up Punkin Hollow. I had only ever done South-to-North, and was rusty in wheeling so pardon the scrapes and bumps, I got better.

Everyone in our group (15 rigs) struggled on this part. I think I sat waiting half an hour at the tail end waiting for everyone to make it through. The ruts in the video below are 3ft deep and the guy in front of me was in a lifted YJ on 33s spun his tires for a good while before making it out of the left side. Someone slid into the rut on the right side and got a busted fender and dented door.

Went down Spaas Creek back to the campground

@PyrPatriot, thanks for making/posting these. Been curious about the feasibility of taking a stock JT down there. I'd like to get down that way, but still reluctant to scratch her up! Still in honeymoon phase . . .

I've installed LCA skids and still want to purchase/install a front diff guard; not planning anything beyond that. I'm fine with undercarriage scrapes, but how much pinstriping can one expect running the DBBB?

You're welcome @futzin' , happy to promote these vehicles in as stock configuration as possible doing what they can. You can see the condition of my JT after 35k miles, with frequent outings to such trails here. I was just under 39k miles during the ride.

There are only a few spots that have rocks to get over. If you see my other vids you'll find one (I think) of me doing a bit of rock crawling, my first attempt at actually moving across boulders instead of rocks sticking out of the ground. I went to 35s because I was scraping and hitting the pumpkin during a couple spots on my favorite trails. I considered skid plates for the diffs, but then that would also negate much of the couple inches of clearance I gained from the tires or even worse if I stick with the 32" Falken mud terrains (255 not 285) then I'd definitely scrape more.

Here are my pumpkins

Not much pin striping usually. These are county roads and are still somewhat maintained for the purpose of Jeeps/Toyotas going through, and locals use them in their old trucks to get between various small towns. Now on some of the Hard sections of the Kentucky Adventure Trail you can get into narrow spots and get pinstripes.

In the 35k mile pic thread you can see more of where I ended up scraping/hitting: control arms, gas tank skid, cross-member skids
