Anyone else have a vibration start shortly after owning the falken wildpeak MT’s? I’ve had 35x12.5 on my truck for ~6000 miles, bead balanced, no issues until the past weekend, in fact I would brag on how quiet and smooth the MT was over all of the other mud tires I’ve had.
Driving to TN this past weekend and they did great until I stopped for lunch and took back off... the vibration was so intense I had to run well below the speed limit for fear of cracking the windshield... took tires off the wheels in TN and had them balance with beads again and removed the bags this time. Took PSI down to 34 and although the vibration isn’t as bad as it was I still can’t get to 80 without some serious shimmy.

anyone had this issue? First set of falkens I’ve ever owned, never had any tire all of a sudden change it’s mind about being balanced... I don’t notice any bulges or deformations in the tread, may try to balance with regular sticky weights. Just disappointed with all the hype locally with balance beads and the “next to god tier” falkens... probably should have went with the yoko tires I was wanting in the first place

Have they been rotated? Thats about when any tires on 4x4’s need a rotation.

I have had that happen with several different brands of tires with shot weights. While we really never came up with a cause, we found that the shot was adhering to the tire wall and causing an imbalance. One of the ways you can check this is jack up the truck rotate the tire and listen for the shot to roll around inside the tire, then take a large hammer and wack the tire. If you hear shot falling, it is sticking to the tire wall. We got so accustom to this happening that we would just look for a large bump to hit when it was doing it. We also considered putting baby powder or silicone powder in with the shot to keep it flowing. We never tried it though.

Is it noticeable from one particular corner?
I've had belts come loose inside the tire casing and slip around, causing an imbalance, with no visual indication whatsoever.

yes on a 35 MT I rotate every oil change

I thought something had gotten stuck and tried hitting the largest bumps I could at speed on the highway to no avail... I will try a hammer on it today, but when we pulled the tires up there wasn’t any shot stuck to the tread surface that I noticed. It was all laying in the sidewall trench

No particular corner, as you’re driving you canfeel the vibration go around the vehicle. If you imagined it coming from one tire it felt like it would go to each tire around the truck in a ring.... strangest thing

also acceleration and deceleration do not seem to affect it other than faster=worse

Could be something in the drive train causing vibration and not related to tires/wheels. This is based off your mention that it moves around the vehicle and proper inspection of rotating parts is a good place to look next.

Might check your driveshafts for thrown weights, bad joints, oe even a slight bend.

I have these on my Wrangler. They are getting noisier (expected). The small vibrations I get sometimes could be related to steering components and not to the tires because I have had them rebalanced.

I’ll have to make time to get it into the shop, I suppose it could be a thrown weight... usually on worn drive shaft joints I get a vibration on decel but not on acceleration. I don’t figure I have a bend but anything is possible. My initial though was tire issue mainly because I didn’t have a vibration for 2ish hours of freeway, once I stopped for lunch and took back off is when it started at high speeds. I had it up to 80-85 at one point and thought possibly I ran them too fast and had heat build up causing a defect.

when I rebalanced these on vacation I found some of the original beads were either still in the bag or managed to get back in and my initial thought was that I had excess weight in a bag that was throwing everything out of wack and not settling evenly during rotation.

After re balancing they are better but there is still a vibration... not as severe at 75ish mph (maybe at 100mph but I don’t believe I want it going that fast)

I will try to get it in the shop tonight and give everything a once over. See if anything stands out, and write up what I find here.
Thank you everyone for your insight
