I finally got my Overland yesterday! My JL was flooded during Hurricane Ida and totaled and sped up my decision to get the JT. The color is even better in person and the loose steering of the JL doesn’t exist in my JT, it’s night and day. I was t sure if I was going to like the leather dash, but it looks great. It appears that the Overland comes with the under seat storage with out the package which I was surprised about.

I saved my 35s and I’m going to throw them back on as soon as I hit 100 miles. I know break in doesn’t really exist in new cars , but better safe than sorry. The first mods I plan on are adding a remote starter, heated seats and the proximity sensors. After that a lift and we’ll see where it goes from there!

First mod, same as in my JL. I barley listen to the radio as it is and living in NJ I don’t lose any reception as everything is very close.

Next up a few cosmetic changes. I’m not a fan of the chrome lettering so it’s all coming off. When I was in high school I saw a matte gray Wrangler with orange lettering and I thought it was the coolest looking Jeep I had seen. When they launched the Mojave I knew I wanted the same coloring on a Sting Gray JT, but didn’t want to pay the extra $10-13k just for some colors. Plus I knew I would eventually be ripping out anything that made it a Mojave in the first place.

I tried using two techniques to get the letters off- fishing line and a heat gun. Fishing line worked much better but still lots of scraping to get the adhesive off.

Overall I’m incredibly happy with the change and next up is the tailgate.

Love the letters and antenna, look forward to see what's next.

Question - what made you choose the Overland vs the other options? I am interested in the Overland and Mojave, but realistically won't use everything the Mojave offers.

For starts, pickings were slim! I got a great deal through a dealership in FL, my brother in law is a car dealer as well and made an intro for me with the sales guys so that helped. I had the choice of Sport models, Overland, a High Altitude and Rubicon. The way I saw it, the Overland fit exactly what I needed and was $12k less than the Rubicons. I'm going to do a suspension upgrade even if it was a Rubicon, so that is wasted money in my opinion. And sway bar disconnects will be added at the same time, and while not electronic I'm not doing a ton of offroading that its not that big of a deal. And lockers I'll add later on if I regear. I love the hoods on the Rubicon and Mojave, but I can live with the standard one.

The only thing the car doesn't have that i wanted is heated seats, but I'm going to add that myself for $50 from Amazon...saved me about $950! After seeing the Oracle taillights I'm glad I didnt get the LED package as I'm going to add those at some point.

Finally had a few minutes to throw on the 35s from the JL. Threw in the Tazer and quickly realized I didn’t unmarry it… DOH! So it’s a $50 fee but the bigger issue is I can’t see the unmarry in the Tazer so I sent them a message. Hopefully it’s an easy fix. Can’t wait to lift this!

So the guys at ZAuto are hooking me up. I messaged them about trying to find the unmarry code and found out I need to update the software and they will waive the $50 fee for me because the JL flooded, awesome guys!

In the meantime I threw on the tailgate badge.

Let me know how you like the 35’s. I calibrated my speedo with the tazer at 34.53 and it’s perfectLy matched. I took a significant hit on MPG, and at 70mph i tend to sit at 2100 rpm’s, noticeable hum, but not terribly annoying. I think I’m going to pick up some 33“ rubicon take off’s for my summer tires and keep the 35’s for my winter tires.

Yeah you are going to loose about 2-3mpg on the highway with 35s, it was the same on my JL. The reason I got a Wrangler before is because I had a pretty good lead foot when I was younger, so the Jeeps keep me under control! lol
