My wife and I just returned from a bucket-list trip to Hawaii and I'm officially declaring the island of Oahu as the Jeep Capital of The World! There are so many jeeps there that 1) you can't possibly wave to all of them, 2) there aren't enough ducks to go around, 3) most are stock, I didn't see to many modded units, and 4) about 1/3 of them are Gladiators. I was simply amazed at the number we saw during our week there. For you doubters, I suggest you seriously discuss this with your better half and take a trip to Hawaii to validate my claim! :)

Lived there for several years. Most are rentals
I can attest to this. I used to manage the operations for one of our sites in Hawaii and when I flew in and picked up my rental it was almost always a JK or JL.

I see you are from Ohio. Where abouts?

I must say, when I am in the Toledo area of Ohio, Jeeps are king. My assumption is that if you worked for FCA a JK, JL, or JT was your vehicle of choice.

Lol, I thought it was Avon, Indiana. I commute through Avon and my fingers get tired from all the waving going to and from work.

Back in the YJ years, when they made only about 80,000 Jeeps a year, the waves were few and far between. Nowadays, whoa. Sooooo many Jeeps. And they last, too. Sooooo many TJ's, JK's, too!

Then there's my driveway. 2 JL's and a JK. They're everywhere1

My cousin is in Hawaii pretty frequently and he told me the same thing…jeep rentals everywhere in Hawaii.

There’s also a boat load of jeepers in the Outer Banks, NC

Ahhh that makes sense.
I just have noticed the difference is why I mentioned it. I like going there in the off season because it’s cheap and not crowded and the locals are cool to hang out with and it’s generally not that cold. We’ve had arguably more fun there in the fall and winter.

I lived in Ewa Beach for many years. Yes, there are a lot of Jeep rentals, but they locals love Jeep and mid-size trucks. It’s very easy to tell which Jeeps aren’t rentals…unless Enterprise started giving each Jeep rental a giant Hawaii state flag to fly from its rear.
